Our Sophomore boys began to show wonderful possibilities as future football players because Bert Decker, Bud Mirtz and Jerry Roche already played on the Varsity. Always a hard working class UD we appreciated the vacation time which soon had rolled around. A new group of teachers filled the ranks when we returned as Juniors. Miss Copenhaver, Miss Escott, Miss Schwab and Miss Parry were new faculty members with whom we soon became acquainted. Miss Copen- haver, and Miss Watkins became our class advisors. 111 1 .1 1010: -113 ig lg in: ug pin.-:e-:ni 1 1 1 1- 1 -1 .1 I.: L- in: :ini H-C 4 T '-Tl : ' A X ii if Us XL ' P5 xy 3 1 -- ' ' lilly L 1 Y Quad mg, 1 greg? 4-Q.,,- -..I f., .Ac-6,-., Y' . y Y K n youngsters entered the Clarks Summit Grade School. It seems like a dream that we have completed the four long years of high school even though ue look brave we all haxe a queer feeling in our hearts vshich proves that ue will miss our Alma Mater and all the good she has held in store for us. We appreciate the patience sw ith which our instructors haue taught us. No matter what youve read, he has read it too. Being a good dancer he is always present at our school parties. It is not generally known that he is a heart smasher but a certain Sophomore calls him cupid. Let us in on the secret Nels! Nelson is a clever artist proof of which was furnished by his English project. He is also interested in motor boat racing and spends his week-ends at Lake Wallenpaupac, In summer Nels loses some of his surplus weight by playing tennis. Is he air- minded? Maybe some day he will be an aviator! Lou has played tackle on the varsity-eleven for two years. He is one of the rocks in our stone wall that holds back our opponents so successfully. If you see a short, well-built, dark-eyed boy, that's Louis. He is one of our rising, young business men, being employed at one of the local business houses. We wish Louis the best of luck in anything he may undertake, even if it is roasting animals Heres to the man who holds the line, And Louis can surely do this fine. 9 Q gif 'T.' .- x , ' f - ,jig-?s-,iii Q Q 4 M -X9 - '--E . er:-' J If - li pi! tl 45 f K 2 A 2- - . vw., .Lf -.f 5- 4, -- JI -1-,,,,. 31 f- gig., - I '1 v . SOPHOMGRE CLASS HISTORY bor eight long vears the class of 34 looked forward to High School where we thought no work was required and ex eiyth ng was gay with good times Alas' It was in this incredlbily green state of mind that we entered the Freshman Class in 1930 only to find much to our amaze ment that in order to become educated we had to study' Immediately following this discoyery our greenness began to fade and we gradually fitted into the scheme of actiyity and knowledge seeking Our class increased in number to 107 when Freshmen from Chin h1l'a blenburn and Justus Joined our ranks The following people w ere elected at our hrst class meeting President Joseph Snyder Vice Presi dent Jane Simrell Secretary William Jenkins Treasurer Helen Brown On March seventh the Freshman Frolic made the school auditorium resound with the merriment of the guests This ey ent definitely marked our class s beginning in the school s social activities With the cooperation of our home room teachers many parties were held by the three indiyidual sections of our class Our Freshman year will furnish many happy memories for us in days to come At the beginning of our school year we felt more confident of a per fect landing as we leaped into plans for Sophomore events First of all we elected the following othcers President John McDermott Vice President l:.ls1e Sturm Secretarv Helen Brown Treasurer Shirley Robinson While we waited for our Grand Hoppe we were far from idle All the Sophomores and Sophomorettes withdrew into their own sections for a time and had all sorts of parties One night in eally December a peek into the High School Auditorium would have rex ealed many of the younger set of Clarks Summit tripping lightly at the hrst dance sponsored bv the Sophomore class. Jack Sontag and a saxophonist were responsible for the snappy music. On the ey ening of February nineteenth we held the Sophomore Hoppe. Scores of gay red and white streamers were gracefully draped across the ceiling with tiny red hearts clinging here and there formed the decorations. lommy Breen and his orchestra furnished the music. Many people attended and the Hoppe was a compl te success. As an added virtue of our class such exclusiye clubs as the P. I. C. and the 'lhi Omega Psi came into existence. The loyal R. B. s came into even more prominence when with the help of the girls they presented iplay Safety lfirst. And now' our Sophomore year comes to an end. We have two years of High School life to remember and because of all the fun they have brought us we enthusiastically await next year's work and pleasure. 23 - - 1-rf-?T-' V 1 J-,F ' .y - f-J?- I ' 1 5, , il --L ' ' ' :Z was lll CJ . Unlike other years the snow was not a foot deep on the held, although there was a wind. Factoryville, an undefeated team, having had their best reason, expected easy picking but were rudely shocked. ln the second quarter, Factoryville advanced to the four yard line, by passes and spinner but could not dent the scoring column. James Young got away on a forty-yard run to the ten-yard line, only to be called back for an infraction of the rules. Bob Hall was injured during the game.
