Underclass- men Becky, Jason L. and Jason D. help Shawn and Max with their campaign commercials. 2. Splash- ing water and breaking test tubes are events Niki and Mandy try to avoid. 3. Kassie manages getting into her locker, but her brother Kevin wheels Brian up to his. 4. Decorating for Homecoming is number 1 with Jackie. 5. Marcy From the Ordinary Breaking the normal dress code and the wheelchair speed limit, Brian Pollard and Shawn Evers are escorted through the halls by another senior citizen, in the form of freshman Jason Douglas. 2. Members of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Atheletes), a new organization at Clarks High, get up early for a breakfast. Food seems to be a re- quirement for every meeting, even though the host- ess or host sometimes isn’t given much warning. 3. Not an ordinary event for some students, but Steve Brandenburger does quietly do his Spanish homework. THREE BOYS FOR EVERY GIRL Since before we even thought of figuring out the year we graduate, the class of 1988 has been known for a variety of things. Among its most unique quali- ties is the one-to-three girl to boy ratio. This ratio has led to numerous arguments, insult matches and fist fights. This is explained best in the theory of male behavior during developing years. The theory, in essence, states that when you get a bunch of little boys together, they think they have the upper hand. The girls however have disproved another theory that there is strength in numbers, by on occa- sion actually getting a word in edgewise. Considering the female population, one could as- sume that the senior girls are inseparable. In fact, the exact opposite is true. Each young woman has dis- played distinct interests of their own in such things as athletics, student organizations, speech and the- ater, cheerleading, as well as activities outside of school. These among other qualities make these girls unique individuals. However, their friendship with each other is a strong and supportive one, built from their need to survive which dates back to their first Kindergarten days. It was then in the fall of 1975 that Patty, Sar- ah, and Kelly got their first insight to what it might be like to survive in a “man’s” world. 1. Bryan keeps his mind in the game. 2. Choir members struggle through the Anthem. 6 SENIORS ... Sarah Clements 3. Math 4 students Shawn, Brian, Ken, and Dave invade the physiological mind of advanced biology student Kevin. 4. A.L.F.F. Sarah Clements Bryan Lindgreen Shawn Evers Kelly Neel Mike Dittmer Sarah Clements ... SENIORS 9 It doesn’t matter where they are or what they are doing, the seniors are always breaking something: break- ing out, breaking rules, breaking ties, breaking apron strings, and breaking the bank! Through the middle of a college application and finacial aid form hur- ricane, the seniors can be found with big smiles on their faces. Sometimes they’re actually breaking up with laughter as memories of the great times they’ve shared fill their minds. Seniors are also known for break- ing the rules as often as they can. Luckily, their most serious offenses are taking juice outside the multi-purpose room, sleeping in the hall during lunch break, and making calls to Oconto, NE to sell some imaginary land. Later in the year, plans are made for the future and goals are set as a cer- tain amount of maturity, and more of a sense of being an individual sets in. At this time the students begin the gentle breaking of ties between class- mates as busy preparations are made for tomorrow. There is also a big affect on the breaking of apron strings, that only a year or so ago kept them home on weekends. The biggest breaking of all happens to the senior’s expense ac- count. It is a direct result of the seem- ingly endless amount of cash that is tied up on senior necessities: an- nouncements, food, prom, food, mem- ory books, food, and yearbooks. The straw that finally breaks the camel’s back is the bill for senior pictures and for the lights parents break when they hit the ceiling. Breaking out in song, swing choir members Jas- on L., Kelly, and Kevin entertain at the Christmas program. 2. Building bridges in physics is a fun project for Amy and Kerri. 3. Many changes were brought forth, the major change was switching from using a typewriter to doing the copy on an Apple computer. Before when mistakes were made, the entire copy sheet often had to be retyped. Now, instead the staff can go to the computer and quickly make the necessary changes and reprint a new copy. The covers are royal blue and white with a duo- tone photo of the seniors on the cover. The end sheets are blue granite. There were 105 pre-sold yearbooks ordered. The copy price of each yearbook was $25.00 or $27.50 for personalized. The additional cost of producing the yearbook was earned by the class of 1988 with their en- thusiastic advertising sales pitches, by yearbook staff and student volunteers at wrestling concessions, dona- tions by a senior parent and sales of extra colored photos to students and parents. Several sizes of copy type were used. Headlines were 24 and 30 point. Body copy was done in 10 point and caption copy was 8 point. The editor of the 1988 CLARKS BLUE BOMBER YEARBOOK was sophomore Wanda Homan. It is her 2nd year on the yearbook staff. The assistant editor was freshman Marcy Pickrel, it is her 1st year on staff. Wanda and Marcy took yearbook as a credit class twc days each week. Another staff member that joined the class at second semester was Sarah Clements. She was responsible for the senior pages throughout the year- book. Other staff members that helped with the sports pages were Brian Pollard, Shawn Evers, Max Nor- vell, and Ken Ksiazek. The advisor of the yearbook, Mary Jane Bell, was a great help to all the staff members. She also took a majority of the photographs that were used in the year- book. Colored senior portraits and most of the group photos were taken by Steve Fuller of Bailey Photogra- phy of Grand Island. In closing, the staff and advisor would like to thank everyone that purchased a yearbook. Thank you to su- perintendent Robert Norvell for his encouragement to produce a quality yearbook and to principal Gregg Wibbels who kept track of our financial progress ancj helped with our profitable wrestling concessions, BREAKING THE MOLD was our special tribute tc 1988. 72 CLOSING COLOPHON ...
