Nevertheless, it was a good year for sports at Clarks High School. Win- ning seasons—pep rallys—crushed egos— broken bones all go with active sports, hard work and team spirit. Much time and effort went in to the preparation of their program, which was thoroughly enjoyed by every- body who had the pleasure of ex- periencing their blending of voices and beautiful music. The Student Council did it... The student council was always there in the planning stage of school improvement. The 1974-1975 stu- dent council, headed by our princi- pal, Mr. Tozcek, purchased for the students’ lunchroom pleasure, a tape deck to play the students’ choice of music and two ping pong tables for those who had a few extra minutes before classes resumed. If it happened, you could read about it in the school newspaper. Always ready and willing to report the news and work on special inter- est columns were the members of the newspaper staff. If you didn’t want it reported.. .you shouldn't have done it in the first place. FRONT ROW: Jean Douglas, Doug Soil, Kenny Dittmer, Jean Schlondorf, Janet Wurtz, Rick Geier. But the most important contest of all was Friday night be- tween Clarks and Palmer. The onslaught was brought off beautifully by Clarks with a 54-0 victory. At halftime the crowning of the 1974 Queen Raedene Rieken and King Bill Ziemba held the attention of the spectators. It was the crowning and the victory that made it all worth waiting for. 26 “You and Me Against the World” At the dance it was Raggedy Ann Raggedy Andy who stood among brightly colored stream- ers near the thrones of Queen Raedene and King Bill. Beck’s Old Barn was decorated with gay and colorful streamers. Freedom Road played the music as CHS danced the night away. It was a good Homecoming...........Homecoming 1974. And if you don’t do any better the next time Foulk, 111 break the other one. J Well hi! Come on over. There’s room for one more in this corner. Those to start this day to- gether were Regina Adkisson, Barbara Beck, Charlene Beck, Gloria Beck, Tommy Beck, Daniel Brandenburger, Karen Brunken, Jimmy Carlson, Diana Church, JoAnn Danklesen, Mike Douglas, Shannon Douglas, Ricky Dubas, Casey Earl, Burr Glasgow, Wil- liam Kennedy, Timothy Lamb, Barbara Mace, Susan Miller, Peggy Peterson, Nancy Starostka, Wayne Wallace, Cyril Wemhoff, and Margaret Laurie Zoucha. During this preview of Clarks Public School, we lost Charlene Beck. In Hour One of this long day, Mrs. Baird took over and found a great decrease in class roll. During intermission, we had lost Barbara Beck, Daniel Brandenburger, Shannon Douglas, Ricky Dubas, Casey Earl, and Wayne Wallace. Later this year, we also lost Jimmie Carlson. During Hour Two, Mrs. Sloan was the instructor. Unfortunately, we lost Cyril Wemhoff and Regina Adkisson. Jerry Brown was, however, with us for part of this hour. Mrs. Zlomke took control in Hour Three. One well-noted for square dancing. We gained two new members: Jacquie Husmann and Scott Jones. We also regained two former members: Jim Carlson and Regina Adkisson. Hour Four brought us upstairs to Mrs. Sine’s room with a total of 16 members. William Kennedy and Regina Adkisson didn’t make the trip. Hour Five introduced us to Miss Zoucha and the regaining of Dan Brandenburger. Jeff Lee accompanied us through part of this hour. Miss Test was our teacher for Hour Six. This year we gained Kathy Traudt and later Raedene Rieken. Our days were half com- pleted, but still half to go. In Hour Seven, Mr. Owston was our sponsor. This hour saw quite a change in our way of study, but not in our number of mem- bers. Hour Eight brought us Mark and Marcia Urkoski, Rita Yrkoski, and Joe Vetick. We lost Kathy Traudt and Diana Church this year. Mr. Riley was our sponsor. We were on our way to success when we took third place in the Goldenrod Confernece Junior High Basketball tournament, which we hosted. We were promoted to high school on May 17, 1971, which required taking some time off for a trip to Lincoln where we visited Weavers Potato Chip Factory, the State Capitol, Antelope Zoo, Elephant Hall, Gateway Shopping Center, and KOLN TV station. Hour Nine—High School. One of our first triumphs was being awarded recognition for having the best decorated hallway dur- ing Spirit Week, which also included initiation and ended with our first homecoming. New members of our class were Bill Kava, Don Foulk, Barb Fritz, and Bill Ziemba. We also regained Richard Dubas and Cyril Wemhoff. Our sponsors during this hour were Mrs. Banks, Miss Kluever.and Mr. Peters. We chose as class officers: President, Tim Lamb; Vice-President, Bill Kava; Secretary- Treasurer, Mike Douglas; and News Reporter, Don Foulk. Together we chose the yellow rose as our class flower, blue and gold as our colors, and our motto was “What we will be, we are now becoming.” Hour Ten was us sponsored again by Mrs. Banks and Mr. Peters. Officers were: President, Bill Kava; Vice-President, Don Foulk; Secretary-Treasurer, Mike Douglas; and News Reporter. Laurie Zoucha. During this hour we were busy with the books and require- ments like world history, biology, and English. We were under new administration after Mr. Jones and his family moved. We dearly missed our friend, Scott. Hour Eleven-just one more to go. Our sponsors were Mrs. Banks and Mr. Van Zandt, and Mr. Steenson. Gloria Beck took over as president. Vice-President was Bill Kava. Susan Miller handled our finances and official business, and Dan Brandenburger report- ed all the facts. We were sorry to lose Peggy Peterson. Our rings arrived early in the year and we were quite pleased. Miss Kluever was an essential part in helping us present the play, “Headin’ For a Weddin’”. It was to be a first and last class play for us. We honored the seniors of ’74 with a banquet and dance on April 18, at the VFW. The theme was “American Graffetti”. Well, this is it.. .Hour Twelve. Once again Mrs. Banks stood by us, along with Mr. Hauschild. Don Foulk was chosen as presi- dent. Laurie Zoucha was vice-president, and Barbara Mace as secretary-treasurer. We decided to change our motto to: “Face the sun and the shadows will fall behind.” Lumbard-Leschinsky Studio had the privilege of taking our portraits. Our men were a great success in basketball and wrestling (not to mention football and track) throughout the winter months. To prove it, the bas- ketball team took first place in the Goldenrod Conference Basketball tournament, which Clarks had never done before. Our wres- tlershad more state qualifiers than in any previous years. Then, when spring arrived, the Juniors hosted a beautiful prom for us. “Stairway to Heaven” was held on Thursday, May 1, 1975 at the New Havens Ballroom. Now what flew by like only a short day (but seems hard to remember) is done. To celebrate, we headed for Kansas City, Mis- souri on Friday,May 9. The main attraction was Worlds of Fun. On Sunday, May 11, 1975, we ended our last day at ol’CHS with the awarding of diplomas to 25 seniors. MORNING HAS BROKEN-LET THE DAY BEGIN. 49 CLASS PROPHECY Concerning the class of ’75 We’ll tell you the future without any jive. Our crystal ball doesn’t pull any tricks, We'll pass the ball on to ’76. Raedene appeared first in our crystal ball. She married a man who was very tall. First she tried modeling ’twas to no avail. She came back to Clarks in a wedding veil. An then there was Burr-off to college he went. In his father’s savings, he put a big dent. He made lots of money wrestling gators on a bet. He now drives through town in a flashy Corvette. In Mr. T’s office, her fingers were worked to the bone. But now she has an office of her very own. If you need to borrow any money at all, Give classy Laurie Zoucha a New York call. On Sunday nights we can all watch Big Bill, Professional wrestling in his money-making deal. He’s got Jody and ten kids to support, He’s healthy and loved. That’s our report. Well-known and famous throughout the land. Is Big Billy Kava and his own Polka Band. Flirting and drinking and raising the dead, It’s four in the morning when he gets to bed. From a pearl to a diamond, Nancy went fast, And was married before the year was past. We hear she’s the sweetest little mother around, And after five kids, she’s not gained a pound. Burgers’ first love was racing his car, Dan’s now a pro-driver who sits in a bar. He flirts with the females over a bottle of wine, And then asks them out to clock his race time. Now we see Glori-that cheery blonde lass, Who left N.U. at the head of her class. The doctors at the hospital all turn and stare, But her hubby’s real strong, so they’d better beware. In the world of sports, Lamb became a great name. The swiftest and greatest at the round ball game. Five of his sons will play basketball too. Ruth teaches cheers to their daughters-it’s true. Barb Fritz is a nurse all dressed in white. But she’s out with the interns most every night. The patients have voted her Best Nurse on the Floor. She’s got the soft touch that they all adore. If your TV sets broken, just give Joe a call, We see he’s successful in our crystal ball. A big store on Main Street with “Vetick” on top, Shows Joe has no time for a wife in his shop. Strong as ox, we now see Cyril, He eats 10 pounds of steak at every meal. He’s a famous weight lifter with lots of zest. No man around will put him to the test. Remember Tom Beck, the old star of stars? Well, he owns twelve famous, swinging bars. If you’ve ever got that unquenchable thirst, Tom says to come down to his place first. Rita coaches volleyball in a big school, The male P.E. teachers think she’s really cool. One night they challenged her to a volleyball game, And you should see how Coach Rita put them to shame. Jim and his pigs live on a farm, And those old hogs cause him great alarm. Whenever they squeal, he thinks it’s his wife, Making sausage and hot dogs to last them through life. You all know Jacquie and Rick were wed. “The best couple around, ” is what everyone said. She’s given him years of tender loving care, A more perfect couple you won’t find anywhere. Now Richard Dubas loved his tractor green, He gave it a crown and called it his queen. It made him great money, and this is a fact— It’s better than a wife, ’cause it doesn’t talk back. In every museum and gallery of art- JoAnn Danklesen played a great part. Her talent has given her a life of fame. And she’s really not in the dating game. Good old Mike Douglas owns much more than one store, Yes, he’s still single and has money galore. He won a contest of men Most Wanted to Date, So, he’s not in a hurry to meet his perfect mate. Karen’s students think she’s the neatest, Her husband and children think she’s the sweetest. She’s on her feet from eight to four, She’s a teacher of math, who could ask for more? Farming was Mark’s greatest thrill, but of girls and drink he did get his fill. He says he loves his farming life, But not so much as Joyce, his wife. Marcia was “little” not only in frame— She also made it her married name. Her husband admires his beautiful wife, She’ll give him three children throughout their life. Off to college Don Foulk did go, In the field of engineering he is a pro. His job as an engineer has gotten him far, But every night, you’ll find him in Shorty’s bar. Susan’s a model on magazine covers, Fame and money over her hovers. Her long hair and lashes have won her great fame. A thousand men she has to tame. And now at the end, we’ll speak of Barb Mace, You will always see a smile on her face. Her sweet daughters bring her constant joy, But Dale’s busting buttons over his boy. We’re glad you had time to listen to this. The class of 75 we’ll really miss. The crystal balls given us a pleasant view. We hope it will all come true for you.
