Mr. Ransom 2 APPRECIATION Maurice Ransom We, the Senior Class of 1965, want to express our appreciation to Mr. Maurice Ransom for all the time, consideration, and help he has given us during our last year at Clarks High. We have all en- joyed having him as our class sponsor and want to wish him the Best of Luck in the Future. We, the Senior Class of 1965, also want to thank Mr. John Higgins for being our class sponsor during our first three years of high school. We feel both of these men have helped us a great deal and we want to wish Mr. Higgins the Best of Luck in the Future. 4 DEDICATION IN DEDICATION That first bright exciting day of kindergarten, when you parents walked with us through those doors of school, you were so proud of us. We were actually starting that long steep climb uphill to twelfth grade graduation. It seemed like such a long time away. But now as we have completed that long steep climb, just one of the many we will have throughout our lifetime, you are probably looking back on that first day and wondering where all those years have gone. It doesn't really seem like thirteen years to you, does it? But for us, because we are young and anxious to go out and explore the world, it seems like thirteen very long years. We feel if it had not been for you, our dear parents, we could never have made it. Oh yes, the teachers were a great deal of help too, but when we had a prob- lem it was always you that took the time to listen, you were never too busy. It was always with you that we shared our great disap- pointments and our happiest moments. We could not even begin to tell you how much we appreciate everything you have done for us. We know that there have been times when we have acted ungrate- ful, and we are sorry. With the dedication of our Senior annual we hope we are able to show you just a little of the thanks, ap- preciation and love that we feel in our hearts for you, our dear parents. Under the supervision of Mrs. Mark Anderson, the 18 kindergarteners were: Nancy Anderson, Erma Morris, Linda Boroviak, Bonnie Stromberg, Yvonne Wruble, Pamela Wilhelmy, Loretta Booth, Jim Hansher, Rodney Pollard, Leslie Branting, Tommy Fleeman, Dwight Nelson, Tommy Sherrill, Kathy Bolen, Patricia Bittinger, Joel Zabaua, Robert Mullis, and Larry Lahowetz. The ones remaining in the graduating class are: Erma Morris, Linda Boroviak, Bonnie Stromberg, Yvonne Wruble, Loretta Booth, Jim Hansher, Rodney Pollard, Kathy Bolen, and Patricia Bittinger. Mrs. McLean was our first grade teacher. During the year we gained April Wickersham, Carlla Maw, and Waltraut Haase. Later we lost the three and also Tom Fleeman left us. The second grade brought us new students. They were: Junior Cuba, Delores Hudson, Max Austin, Catherine Buresh, and Linda Yates who left us later in the year. This year we had Mrs. Baird for our teacher. As third graders we were happy to have Mrs. Mark Anderson as our teacher again. We welcomed Tom Fleeman back and Richard Brunken also joined us that year. We were sorry to have Max Austin, Junior Cuba, and Catherine Buresh leave us that year. We started our fourth grade with Mrs. Lois Ulferts helping us through the year. The new students that joined our class were: Carol Zelazny and David Herman from District 55, and Dick Dittmer also joined us that year. We lost Eddie Sweet at the close of the year. Climbing still higher we enter the fifth grade with Miss Marie Zoucha as our teacher. Here we gained six new students: Linda Beck, Lynn Beck, and Janice Prososki from rural West, and Max Austin, Gordon Wemhoff, and Carol Kennedy. Mrs. Robert Strickland opened the door to our sixth year of grade school. We gained Cheryl Lovelace and lost Linda Beck who moved to Central City. During the seventh grade Mrs. Elwyn Craig was our teacher. She was also our eighth grade teacher. We also lost Cheryl Lovelace, but we gained Gene Garretson. At the close of the year, we took a trip to Lincoln where we toured various inter- esting places, the State Capitol, Gooches, and Elephant Hall. In the fall of 1961, 28 students began their struggle of high school. The new members were: Alan Scholz, Karen Williams, Theresa Bialas, Sandy Hays, Francis Dittmer, Elynn Miller, and Norma Voichoskie. We were sorry to see Tom Fleeman and Gene Garretson leave. We chose for our class colors. Purple and White, our flower, the white carnation, and It's What You Learn After You Know It All That Counts as our class motto. We were happy to have Mr. John Higgins as our class sponsor for the coming three years. The two not joining us in our Sophomore year were Larry Lahowetz, who moved to Grand Island, and Karen Williams who transfered to Central City. We were happy to have Betty Starostka join us from Wisconsin. Our Junior year was a busy year with our class play, Grandad Goes Wild which was very successful. We received our class rings around Thanksgiving from Herf Jones Company. We honored the Seniors with the Junior-Senior Prom. Our theme was, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We hired the Don Douglas Combo to play at a dance in the auditorium following the banquet. In our final year of high school, having gained Carol Kingma, we find 25 stu- dents ready to pay tribute to C.H.S. We were very happy to have Mr. Maurice Ransom as our sponsor. In September we went to Grand Island to Lumbard- Lechinsky to have our Senior Class pictures taken. At Christmas time we presented a small skit entitled Twas the Night Before Christmas. We ordered our announce- ments from Herf Jones Company. The Senior Class presented their annual play, The Sky's the Limit on April 29. On April 30 the Seniors left on a weekend tour to Denver for sneak day. On May 24, 25 students received their diplomas at com- mencement exercises. Senior Class Prophecy 1965 It's now the summer of 95 The Seniors of 65 will soon arrive. This is the first time since they graduated That they all got together and congregated. Here comes Pat Bittinger rolling in Because of her occupation she's grown quite thin. She always wanted to be a nurse But she ended up driving a hearse. Carol Kingma's now a lab technician She'll soon be off on an African mission. She'll take care of all the natives Be them gentlemen or be them ladies. Have you people heard about Gordon Yes, he’s doing commercials for Borden's. He has quite a time for he blushes alot But he's very happy with the raise he just got. I read in this morning newspapers Where Francis Dittmer was hired as a policeman on Comedy Capers. He's probably busy studying his lines Or pretending he's a real cop and giving fines. Who's that walking so proud and tall Why that's Jim Hansher carrying his gold football. He's the only one who made the all-state team That shows who's on the beam. Coming in next—Why who could that be? It's our opera singer Carol Zelasney. She works and she slaves till dawn each day So she'll be able to sing in her own beautiful way. We just got word that Betty Starostka has become Superintendent The children say she is awful independent. She is also the states best History teacher Because she follows in the footsteps of Abigail Beacher. In swings Sandy Hayes, that talented little star As you all know, she plays the guitar. She's become very rich as most Beatles do With a voice like hers you would too. In walks Allan Scholz the wealthy winner You've probably heard he's the greatest swimmer. He's been to the Olympics 5 times in a row And now is a life guard at Broken Bow. There's Richard Brunken with his Navy suit on I heard they been fighting over in Guam. Rich has a Submarine all of his own To President Johnson he is very well-known. My, my there's Erma Morris the striking young thing She used to be quite heavy but now she's so thin. She has her name upon her door Where she does her modeling at the Fosbury's store. Where's Lynn Beck, that genius young man? OH! He went to study in No Mans land He never returned so they say When he gets homesick, he'll return some day. Up ahead of us is a guy we all know It's Rod Pollard with his pole vaulting pole. He's the top vaulter in the world you see He's won the Olympics not once, but three. In walks Janice Prososki the Dairy Queen She makes her living by selling cream. She's been milking cows for over ten years Without any worries or fears. Who is that which just got stuck Why its Bonnie Stromberg with her gas truck. She's taken over her father's career for her own And is working her fingers down to the bone. That's Elynn Miller who we see over there Yes I She's the one with the long blond hair. She's known all over, from coast to coast Because she's the cover girl for the magazine Post. And here comes Yvone Wruble our Homecoming queen She now has an R.N. cap to be seen. She's still as busy as busy can be For she's studying for a bachelor's degree. Here's Carol Kennedy as carefree as ever For she now operates an I.B.M. lever. She's hoping someday to be off the run And be the employer and have some fun. Theresa Bialas is the happiest yet She's finally married her boyfriend, Chet. They'll soon have some children and start a new life And Chet will be happy that she is his wife. Who's that jolly fat man who walked through the door Why it's that skinny kid who's not any more. Yes! it's Dick Dittmer and he's put on some pounds He works at Brandies in the Department of Lost and Found. David Herman, whom we all should remember Was always on the teacher Main Nerve Center. He's now in college and has a big aim, For he's striving to make it in the Hall of Fame. Who's that girl so happy and gay? Why it's Loretta Booth looking forward to her wedding day. Her and Rod are about to be married And over the threshold she'll soon be carried. Now look who just happened to drop in. It's Norma Voichoski, who's been visiting her kin. She 's so busy with her career We're all so glad she could be here. Kathe Bolen is now a beautician. She's really a swinger, for her pastime is fishin. She has a husband by now of course. He has no other name than Dale Morris. And here's Linda Boroviak who is now a housewife She has ten children to give joy to her life. She's really quite happy as you can see Her hubby's a stock car driver and wins quite a fee.
