Senior Class History Year: 1947 Setting: Clarks Public School Time: Nine A. M. Yes, that was the year we first entered the portals of C. H. S. Ralph Jilg, Dennis Spires, Leland Pierce Tom Sweet and Gary Morris were the ’’frivolous five that greeted their teacher Mrs. Butcher, with that first, sweet, innocent, ’’Good Morning, teacher.” During our first grade year ’’the five little Cherubs” were joined by Sharon Schnieder, Mary Cathryn Lahowetz and Camille Kaminsky. Our teacher was Mrs. Pullen and our class numbered eight. The following year Patty Land joined our group, and Mrs. Pullen was again our teacher. Although we grew in stature and intelligence during our third grade we failed to grow in number. We lost Patty Land but otherwise there was little change. However, we did change teachers, Miss Sweet was our teacher through the third and fourth grades. Darlene Sperling joined us in our fourth grade. Mrs. Sloan was our teacher during the fifth and sixth grades. Pauline Nelson joined us during our fifth year at C. H. S. Finally came our sixth grade year and we had made it to the halfway mark. We were pretty grown-up at the grand ole’ age of eleven, at least we thought we were. Jerry Cahill, Charles Govlik, Franklin Brauer and Ronnie Bang left before the year was over. Mrs. Elwyn Craig was our teacher during the seventh and eighth grades. Leland Pierce and Louis Brunken, also Ronald Hudson and Marvin Brockman joined us that year. Finally eighth grade graduation and we were over the hill but what we didn't realize was, we still had a mountain to climb. Our ’’green grizzly” ninth grade year brought about many new additions to our class—in the form of Lynda Clark, Andy Dush, Dale Hannappel, Ron Urkoski, Jack Neel, Maurice Lindgreen, and Annette Pehrson. It was fun but dismay came fast, when the seniors found us and properly initiated us. By our tenth grade most of us thought we had it pretty well ’’racked.” We got to watch the green fresh- men suffer the trials and tribulations we had suffered through. Yes, we had it made all right, until we realized that Geometry and Biology weren’t the’’Snap” courses we had hoped for....Lois Ann Toline and Gary Morris joined us that year. Our Junior year was certainly a busy one. We presented our first class play, received our class rings and sponsored the Junior-Senior Banquet. Our Senior year was highlighted by the presentation of our class play the Junior-Senior Banquet, and of course who will ever forget our Senior trip to Colorado. The close of our Senior year brought about both tears and triumphs......with class night, Baccalaureate, and Graduation. Senior Prophecy Listen my children and you shall hear, Of nineteen people with nothing to fear. Who valiantly set out with knowledge acquired, And this is the story of just what transpired. Marvin Brockman is now a patrolman, we hear He's chasing down speedsters both far and near. And writing out tickets by leaps and by bounds, If there's one thing he can't stand it's those hotrod clowns. Here comes Lou Brunken the teen-ager's rage, They swoon and they scream when he steps on the stage. It's nothing, says Lou as he wiggles and shakes, I guess I'm just one guy who's got what it takes. Petite Lynda Clark, that quiet young chick, Has found her great talent and started to click. Comedians hire her for a large fee, And she giggles at jokes for their shows on TV. Jerry Cahill was the first man into space, He soared to the moon in a mad rocket race. He's living there now, a complete life of ease, And has opened a shop, where he deals in green cheese.

Our friend Andy Dush who was always quite witty, Is being called in by the rackets committee. We hear poor old Andy has plenty of woes, He writes all the questions for rigged TV shows. Mary Cathryn Lahowetz is now in the WACS, She's absorbed in her work there and these are the facts. She checks up on Clarence it's as fine as can be, Cause she's now a captain, he's still P. F. C. Dale Hannappel always was one for romance, He went into TV and got his big chance. If you like the cowboys you won't have to gripe. He's featured in westerns the tall silent type. Maurice Lindgreen's now known as Maurice the Moose. He wrestles all comers and fast cooks their goose. He draws quite a crowd on those wrestling nights, The girls just love Maurice in dainty pink tights. Blonde Annette Pehrson, that shy little girl, Is now Mrs. Branting and in a mad whirl. It seems that her housework and chores never ends, She has thirteen children, there're four sets of twins. That sharp-witted lad, named Leland Pierce, Has accomplished his purpose with a zeal that is fierce. He’s now a professor at Harvard you see, And has recently gotten his doctor's degree. A marriage consultant is this Jack Neel, In this special field he's become quite a wheel. He counsels each couple and soothes tangled lives, Experience speaking poor Jacks' had six wives. That pert Mrs. Johnson, Camille Kaminsky, Is now a proud housewife as content as can be. She worships her husband and proves it this way, By serving burnt offerings three times a day. Ralph Jilg greatest talent has no limitations, He makes all the fairs doing bird imitations. It’s easy said Ralph, just too funny for words, Why everyone always said I'm for the birds. That famous ventriloquist named Gary Morris, Has run through his fabulous repertoire for us. Amid much applause he took ten curtain calls, My secret? says Gary, I work with real dolls. Florence Urkoski, that famed private eye, Has been reprimanded by our F.B.I. With the blunder she made they thought best to remove her, Cause the first guy she nabbed was named J. Edgar Hoover. Watch out, out there is Tom Sweets loud cry, And through those big doors you can see bodies fly. Please tell us we ask do you like your work son? You see Tom is a bouncer at Club 21. Now there's Dennis Spires dressed up in new togs, We hear he now runs a school to train dogs. But why the long face, he looks sad as can be, It seems all the dogs are now smarter than he. Ronald Urkoski, a musician born Has just replaced Lawerence Welk's Myron Florn. He worked and he practiced year after year, But finally he has it his glorious career.
