They have been chosen by THE TALON staff as the theme for the 1965 annual. From September until Jun e, Clarke County High School is the axis about which the student body and our world revolves. It is the heart of our world for five years. As it expands, so does our world, until it “stands out” to encompass Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia, and the world. 9 Sude nt Seniou Undmkunm Ade Uiiemtii CmtenU tk uodi Jmdiij mi CuMuaJm 6 22 20 50 70 10 m In the pages that follow is a record of our ex- panding, interesting world, as it “stood out” in the year Just past. i ' %emu He 3i lit is not often that a class has the opportunity to honor such a worthy man. As a coach and as a teacher, he has in- spired our teams with a desire to win and his students with a desire to gain more knowledge. In appreciation of the many and varied contributions to our school and the influence he has had in our lives .... and most of all, because he is our friend .... The Class of 1965 is exceedingly proud to dedicate the 1965 edition of THE TALON to MR. RUDY TELEK Om ' J ' fmi . , . h. (fi m r ' _ ,. V H tk mdi 0 . We wish to pay a tribute to our faculty, who have a far-reaching influence in our lives. It is their responsi- bility to keep more than five hundred minds growing to reach their full powers by graduation. In this generation of seekers, they try to develop in our minds the insight, technical knowledge, practical appli- cation, diligence, research techniques, patience, sports- manship, and understanding they know will be necessary in the challenging world of today. This world is a vital, ex- citing, and enjoyable part of life at Clarke County High School for participant and spectator alike. %cth St 3S The Eagles football team became the high school team to have the longest winning streak in football in the state of Virginia. They attained this distinction when they won their thirty-eighth game by defeating Strasburg. Although there was a null tie with Elkton earlier in the season, this did not affect our streak. Even though the Eagles did not receive the District Ten Championship this year, they showed the undying spirit and desire to win that made them soar to new heights. After the football season, the Eagles advanced into a higher grouping with tougher competition. Next year they will play in the Northwestern District, Group 1-B, with James Wood, Handley, Herndon, Fauquier, and George Mason.
