Representative The Student Co-operative Association is composed of all the students enrolled in Clarke County High and this year had as its sponsor the assistant principal, Mr. William Boyce. During the school year it car- ried on many activities for the benefit and pleasure of the students. The activity most beneficial to all students was the very excellent running of the canteen which was organized last year. 'The plan for an S.C.A. radio program was carried through with great success and was an enjoyment to all concerned. This brought news of all the activities in the school to the parents and friends in our community. Also, we have a juke box installed in the cafteria. During April four dele- gates were sent to the state convention at Madison College. This gave us many new ideas for our own ' S.C.A. projects. The Eagles roared through their opposi- tion for a record of eight wins, one loss, and one tie. This record was the best in its history. As practice began at football camp in Romney, West Virginia, the prospects of a good season looked very dim. The boys were small in stature as football players go, but big in heart. By the first game, the Eagles were in mid-season form. The Eagles used an Oklahoma style, split-T attack and executed it with machine-like precision. They made their own breaks by out hustling their opposition. Much emphasis was placed on speed. The only loss was to Luray. Except for three or our minutes in that game, the Eagles were the best team: they led 7-6 at half time. The key to the success of the Big Orange was great coaching and great determination by the boys. The entire team possessed great desire to play football. Certainly Coach Don Maphis deserves the great- est amount of credit for success. The opposition was simply outplayed and outcoached.
