Graphic Arts builds SPIRIT Xurbo. Clark's fuzzy mascot, celebrated his first birthday with help from the Graphic Arts Club. The group, which previously served the school in its printing department, expanded its contribution to include promotion of school spirit. Calling themselves the Stable Crew, members made an active effort to support all sporting events. Several members filled the role of Turbo, who appeared at games and assemblies. The group sold tee shirts inscribed Wouldn't You Like to Be a Senior Too? and in February sponsored Clark's first Ground Hog Day Dance. Mr. Grant Engle and Mr. Richard Strahan advised the group. Astronomers discover UNIVERSE O ut of this world — this phrase, often used in advertising hype or conversational exaggeration, truly did apply to the interests of the Astronomy Club, which was one of the smallest and youngest groups at Clark. Members met every Monday after school to decide upon that week's topic. All members researched that specific topic and shared the information at the following meeting. The club’s main goal was to further educate its members on different aspects of astronomy. But research sessions were not the only events in which they were involved. Led by the President Rebecca Miller, the more than ten members of the Astronomy Club planned a trip to the Clark County Community College planetarium in February. Also, on certain occasions, some members who owned their own telescopes brought them to the meetings and shared the uses and instructions with fellow club members. CALTECH ' list I 1.
