DECA displays work SKILLS M embers of the Distributive Education Club of America, commonly known as DECA. proceeded to fulfill the group's purpose of training students for the business world. In addition to the officers in the club, the advisors. Mr. James Hoffman and Mrs. Charlotte Conger, guided students through demonstration and presentation activities. Officers met weekly as well as with the entire group once a month. At the beginning of the school year, DECA participants took part in the Meatball Festival, raising funds for Opportunity Village. They also sponsored an Employer-Employee Banquet. a Gong Show, and the annual Career Day when professionals and representatives of local business visited the school to talk with interested students about job opportunities. Throughout the year, some members of the group attended several local, state, and national conferences. During classes, members joined in a mock business world, learning to deal with banks, real estate, insurance, retail sales, and travel. In preparation for the competitive world of business, members learned and practiced everyday business skills. I.
