Each reporter was given an assigned topic on which to write an article. All topics had to be researched carefully, and sometimes out-of-class interviews with coaches and teachers had to be set up. Special emphasis was put on writing techniques, journalistic style, and graphic design. Cavalcade recaptures MEMORIES w ith a smaller group than in previous years, the yearbook staff was faced with greater responsibilities for each individual member. All reporters were responsible for putting together most of the pages of the yearbook by drawing layouts, choosing pictures, and writing copy and headlines. The editors designed some pages, supervised the staff, and kept the book on schedule. Photographers took pictures during school, sports activities, and assemblies. They also printed all of the black and white pictures of the book, with the exception of the individual portraits. The copy editor, Karen Fagan, smoothed out writing problems and also designed the honors pages. As business manager, Kristen Ashworth was in charge of the financial aspects of the book, and also designed the ad pages. Though most of the work was done in fifth period Publications class, most staff members found themselves spending considerable outside time with interviews, sale of advertisements, and general production of the yearbook.
