Assistant Principal Naomi Goynes Principals establish many specific goals to improve standards Under the leadership of Clark High Principal Larry Olsen, the administrators directed the student body towards several goals. Among these aims were a stronger identification with school, improvements in grades and attendance, more student expectancies, and involvement of students in clubs and organizations. According to Mr. Olsen and the other principals, among other important changes or improvements they desired were more school spirit and a greater pride in being a part of the Clark student body. Also. Mr. Olsen expressed a desire for improvement in the course articulation for tenth grade students (the transition between courses at junior and senior high levels). Mr. Olsen believed, however, that schools could not take sole responsibility for the education process. “Too many social problems are referred back to the schools, he said. At Clark we have good parental support,” he continued, indicating the need for a team effort in improving schools. Administrators 189
