Human Relations has UNITY romolion of community support and cultural awareness were goals of the Human Relations Club. The first service project was a food drive prior to Thanksgiving; the food was sent to social workers in the Human Relations Department of the Clark County School District, who forwarded it to needy families. In February, members embarked on their major project of the year: Black History Week. Hoping to familiarize the whole school population with cultural contributions of Black Americans. The group planned a wide range of activities which included a fashion show and a play in tribute to Dr. Martin l.ulher King. Jr. Very popular with Clark audiences, the Lmoja dancers performed at assemblies and halftime shows at basketball games. Mrs. Priscilla Adams. Mr. Kermil Bayless. Mr. Doug Garner, and Human Relations worker Ruth Turner joined in advising the group. • OHkers. Viow iw. Mrs. PnscxUa Mams iadwsovj. Mr KctnwV Ra cs iadwvorj. YveUe xV?$Cta d. Min. Charger bands earn TROPHIES T he Million Dollar Band, under the direction of Mr. Bill McMoslcy, upheld a winning tradition this year. Traveling throughout the West, the marching band visited such places as West Covina and Escondido, California as well as Northern Nevada. In Reno, where they attended the state competition, they took second-place overall. In a special performance, they appeared on national television in the Hollywood Christmas Parade at the end of November. Earning trophies consistently, the group found themselves with many superior ratings. The tall flags, a recent addition to the group, also appeared at the performance and received first-place honors in competition. During the marchingrseason. bandsmen prepared for their shows during early morning practices along with Monday and Tuesday night rehearsals. The symphonic bands after extra Tuesday night rehearsals played numerous national conventions. All in all, the Million Dollar Band assumed a very busy schedule besides providing the usual half time entertainment at football games. I. Drum Majors: Chris Hines.
