The purpose of this progrom is to ollow other countries to experience Americon culture, educotion. ond woy of life. The visiting students were Rogelio Cuellor from Bolivio. Cloudio Gorruti from Brozil, Tomos Janson from Sweden. Dovid Moyes from England. Hiroko Nishimuro from Jopon. Sori Wiksrrom from Finland, ond Poisol Wipowin from Thailand. Dovid Moyes wos the only junior: the resr were seniors. The students were sponsored by Americon Field Service, World Experience. Rotory Internorionol. Youth Exchonge Service, ond Youth for Understanding. They lived with Los Vegos fomilies. most of whom hod students ortending Clark. Nine juniors hod the honor of representing Clork or Nevado Boys’ ond Girls’ State in June of 1961. The onnuol workshops in state ond locol government, sponsored by the Americon Legion ond Legion Auxiliary, drew students from throughout the state. Varsity Quiz Team demonstrates talents The Vorsity Quiz teom consisted of about 25 members who needed quick recoil ond in depth knowledge of oil oreos of study to ploy the gome successfully. The intellectual competition featured questions which included oil academic disciplines, contemporary sports and fashions, ond current events. The teom procticed for one hour after school on Tuesdays ond Thursdays in preporotion for their gomes. Three of the gomes were televised on channel three, ond three other gomes were non-televised and ployed after school with teoms from other Clark County schools. 1.
