Learning enjoyed, government explained at Girls', Boys' State Being able to attend Nevada Boys' and Girls' State is an honor which is given each year to selected juniors from each high school. In order to attend state, the applicants must fill out a form that includes activities and leadership experience: a biographical essay completes the application. To narrow down the applicants so that the most qualified students represent Clark, the applications are reviewed by a committee of teachers and administrators. On arriving at state, the students are divided into groups which consist of various delegates from the different high schools throughout Nevada. After splitting into city groups, the students establish a routine which consists of various speakers from the state and local government, mock elections, and inter-dorm competitions. I. Honor students offer time, efforts, ideas in community projects Community service was the primary goal of Clark's 80-81 National Honor Society. Starting off the year by helping with registration, the honor students continued the year with many other school and community-related projects. The group donated their services to the school to help with the hoaring and vision testing of sophomores. During the annual Paront Open House, honor students were there to guide the visitors around the premises. Students also volunteered their time in caroling at a local convalescent home and wrapping presents for the Salvation Army. As in past years. Honor Society entered a tree in Christmas Tree Lane. The group also sponsored two blood drives. In order for students to be eligible to be a National Honor Society member, they must fill out an application, show academic superiority (3.5 GPA or better), and be interested in community affairs. focor Society Officers.
