Lady Chargers show pride in team effort The girls’ varsity basketball team did not have a season that was as successful as they had anticipated. They concluded the schedule with a record of 4-8. beating Bonanza and Basic once and Gorman twice. The team made it to the zone play-offs for the second year in a row: they met Western in their first game but lost 73-60. During most of the season Sue Murray, a 5'4 junior. led the team in scoring with a 20.3 average per game. Coach Theresa Conerly termed Murray a very coachable player.” Though she suffered injuries which took her out of play in the last games, she still gained All-Conference first team honors. Junior Sue Evans earned second team All-Conference distinction. Coach Conerly also praised the performance of Kira Strehlow. a sophomore who scored consistently and turned in a startling 21 points in the final game with Western in the zone tournament.
