Clark College is hemmed to pay tribute to Bishop John Weslej.-' Edward Bowen Jr., in the dedication of the 1960 Yearw beted-t1 in grateful recognition of his out- standing leadership in The Methodist Church and his Lintiriug efforts in the advancement of Christian education. His interest in Clark College stems from elementary school clays t0 the pres- ent. Indeed, two of the most memorable events in his illustrious career DeCurred in our College ehapefehis elevation to the Episcopacy in 1948. and his receiv- ing in 1959 the degree Docmr 0f Latters tLitt. DJ. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent administrative ability that he has shown over the years as President of the Clark Coilege Board of Trusteesi Bishop Bowen is a native of Baltii more1 a graduate of Wesleyan Univer- sity, of Harvard University and 0f Gam- mon Theological Seminary. His career DEDICATION Bishop John Wesley Edward Bowen has been highlighted by excellent service as a college teacher; as an editor of the Central Christian Adwmate, as a pastor, as a district superintendent, and as an episcopal leader. More than just giving his exceptional talent and ability, he has brought to our College a iinot holier than thou attitude, but an indomitable heart, sincerity and friendlineRs.
