Carlson Library Venango Campus — Clarion State College Though many of our illustrious stu- dents will disagree, life at Venango Campus is seldom boring. Our rela- tively small size allows us freedom and experiences found at very few other in- stitutions of higher learning. Many campus activities were arranged by the Student Senate. Among them were: all-night bowling parties, ice skating, roller skating, swimming at a local YMCA, a picnic at Two-Mile Run State Park, and an unforgetable semi-formal in April. Activities such as these, as well as unorganized group outings, bound the members of the campus community in a unique social atmos- phere. Those of us who have shared this experience certainly will never forget memories of Venango, and it is hoped that this book will keep those memories alive. — Keith Whipkey Editor « Venango — A Year All of us together we ' ve experienced a year. A time in our lives, we ' ll hold very dear. Now, we must all go our own separate way. To meet others like us, wherever we stay. We ' ve shared with each other the joy and the pain. Of life at Venango, a whole year again. We ' ll never all be here again as before. Life ' s just too short we ' ve gone through these doors. Memories of each other will slowly grow dim. Remembering a loved one — her or him. The happiest moments we ' ve spent in the sun. Have been at Venango, and I ' ve just begun. We ' ll all meet in Heaven, 1 hope and someday. The Church is Catholic, universal, so are all her Actions; All that she does, belongs to all. When she baptizes a child, that action concerns me; for that child is thereby connected to that Head which is my Head too, and engraffed into that body, Whereof 1 am a new member. And when she buries a Man, That action concerns me: All mankind is of one Author, and is one volume; when one Man dies, one Chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God ' s hand is in every t ranslation; and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again, for that Libran, ' where every book shall lie open to one another; As therefore the Bell that rings to a Sermon, calls not upon the Preacher only, but upon the Congregation to come; so this Bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by his sickness. There was a contention as far as a suit (in which both piety and dignity, religion, and estimation, were mingled) which of the religious Orders should ring to prayers first in the Morning; and it was determined, that they should ring first that rose earliest. If we understand aright the dignity of the Bell that tolls for our evening prayer, we would be glad to make it ours, by rising early, in that application, that it might be ours, as well as his, whose indeed it is. The Bell doth toll for him that thinks it doth; and though it intermit again, yet from that minute, that that occasion wrought upon him, he is united to God. Who casts not up his Eye to the Sun when it rises? but who takes off his Eye from a Comet when that breaks out? Who bends not his ear to nay bell, which upon any occasion rings? but who can remove it from that bell, which is passing a piece of himself out of this world?
