The class of 1947 was predominately a girls ' class through most of its four years at Clarion. Originally thirty-eight entered as freshmen in 1943. Eight of these were boys, most of whom were not yet old enough for military service, but who later left for the Army. Eight members of the class took the accelerated program and graduated early. Eleven dropped out. The class gained seventeen men this year when they returned from military duty. Eleven members of the class are of the original thirty-eight. The class of 1947 might well be called our Victory Class. Students who entered when the war days were darkest, you have added to your numbers our men who served their country till the world conflict was successfully finished and who returned to graduate with you. You are going out under circumstances much happier for all of you than existed four years ago. May all of your future years be as bright as your present prospects.
