We call a taxi, whose driver is Leroy Fox, to take us to the theater. In bright lights in the marquee are the stars names-Charlotte Songer and Patricia Seig- Worth. The production is directed by Charles Reinsel. As we enter the theater we are greeted by the dreamy music of Arnold McKinley's Orchestra. Goldie Leadbetter is singing the top tune Stardust',. Dorothy Carrier and Bernie Carlos are scheduled to play a piano duet, and Marjorie Reynolds a violin solo. The exquisite costumes of the actresses, as well as the musicians, were designed by Ruth Adamson. As an extra feature we saw Eva Holler, the champion roller skater of Skyburgh. Early the next morning I set out for Venus in our space ship. But one of the jets under the rocket ship stops and we stop at a repair station. Our excellent mechanics Keith Swartfager, Calvin Doverspike, and Harold Miller soon have the ship in good repair. Upon arriving at Venus I went to inspect their efficient new hospital. I am greeted by the head nurse Helen Collett, who introduces me to Doctor Teresa Reinsel. Two of the capable nurses are Agnes Lahr and Elberta Smith. Since I have some time left in the day I went to visit two of my classmates, Carrie Lou Cummings, and Zelda Hamler who are now happily married. The next day I visit the three leading agriculturists of Venus, George Aaron, Everett Stahlman, and Milford Miller. Venus, Planet of Beauty has been land- scaped and turned into Fairyland,, itself through their hard work. In the afternoon I visit Herbert Smith and Ronald Crissman who have formed a corporation. They are the leading plastic manufacturers and wishing to form a contract with the Gene Hoover-David Stahlman Corporation, they call in their secretary Lois Ferry. Lois contacts Dale Shaffer and junior Dolby, who are excellent lawyers, to draw up a contract for them. Doris Heasley and jean Leadbetter take the dictation of the contract. Taking a night ship to Mercury I asked Alletta Tiley, switch board operator, to contact Barbara Tiley, a Missionary. Meanwhile I visited the Beauty Parlor of Betty Snyder. Working for Betty are Benette Klepfer and Evalyn Henry. I hurry to meet Barbara Tiley at the appointed place. We go immediately to the University of Mercury and Hnd a basketball game in progress. The teams were coached by james Deitz and Beatrice Markley. Bea tells us that Doris Hindman, Kathleen Bepoff, and Norma Mohney are now teaching at the Univer- sity. In Norma's room are two of Mary Beinsel's and Edna Masters' children. Learning that my two friends live near by I go to visit them. After a very pleasant visit to Mercury, I return to Mars. I meet Doris Himes who is to go shopping with me. We go to Susanne Beinsel-Barbara Smith Atomic Dresses Incorporated. Barbara's and Susanneis stunning seasonal costumes are being worn by their leading model, Katy Cyphert. We meet Aldean Hetrick and Mary jean Spangler as we leave the shop. They will buy some Atomic creations, for their trousseau. After parting from my friends I accidentally meet Captain Harold Miller on the boulevard. He invites me to visit the Space Ship Fleet. I accept his offer and we start at once. The skipper of our ship is Blair Haines and the pilot is Robert Donahue. They are about to set out on a cruise and they ask me if I would care to accompany them. I readily accept the offer and we set sail. We are floating dreamily through space but suddenly I seem to be falling. As I fall the stars seem to get smaller and-bump! I find myself back on earth. I am sorry to End myself at the end of a very pleasant journey. 23

enior CALM Aafory Ship ahoyl Four years ago, our ship started on its long journey to a distant horizon--a horizon which held the reward that made us sail for four years, in order to attain it,-our High School Diploma. We started our voyage as a crew of very green Freshmen with Mrs Galmish and Mr. Stahlman, as our skippers. They sailed us through seas of embarrassment that made us go to the wrong classes, and do all the wrong things at the wrong time. VVe had our good moments too, of course, such as the day we were initiated. A year later we were promoted to the Sophomore Class with Mrs. Songer and Miss Evans as our skippers. Upon counting noses, we found several of our crew had either turned back or had been lost at sea. Again we sailed on. Our great day that year was the day we initiated a new crew of Freshmen. We sub- jected them to all the misery that we dared. One fine, morning we woke up and found that we had sailed far enough to become Juniors. Again we changed skippers. This time it was Miss Zigarella and Mr. Kahle. For many a week we planned for the biggest event to take place in our junior year-the Iunior-Senior Prom. We decked our ship in blue and and gold streamers and flowers, then christened it The Blue and Goldf, Susanne Reinsel and Harold fWindyQ Miller were chosen queen and king of the gala affair. We had a wonderful time as our ship rocked in time with Neal Buckleyis orc estra. Now we find we have reached the last knot of our voyage. At last we are Seniors! Sixty one of us have survived the long hard journey. This year we are working to earn money to graduate. Already we have had two successful skating parties, sold Christmas cards and magazines, had two food sales, one of which brought us 364465, and sponsored the movie State Fairv which brought us 810200. Later in the year we shall present our class play, Gabriel, Blow Your Horn, under the direction of Mrs. Songer and Mr. Riley. The horizon is right in front of us now. Our skippers, Miss Stewart and Miss McMann are breathlessly awaiting with us, the day when we hear, All hands on deck if you want to receive your high school diplomali' Ship ahoy! ffdzifl prop ec? One quiet night in 1960 as sleep descends upon the world I sit gazing out the window at the heavenly universe. Gradually I am filled with a longing to visit some of these bright stars. Look! One of the clouds seems to beckon me. Suddenly, a gust of wind sweeps me upon it and I begin to glide into space. The cloud sweeps me into a space ship terminal. There I board a space ship owned by General Fred Repoff and not until this time did I realize how familiar were the faces about me. The pilot of my space ship is Arvil Spangler and the co- pilot is Scott johns. As I settle in my seat the hostess Darlene Eshbaugh fastens my safety belt. The ship rapidly approaches Skyburgh, the capital of the uni- verse. I receive a hearty welcome from Ioan Allison, reporter from the Daily Star, who was assigned to report on the visitor from earth. She guides me to the office of Mayor Ernest Rhoads. His private secretary, Dorothy Miller, admits me at once to see the Mayor. Another visitor of the Mayor is Senator james Crate from the Universal Assembly of World Govern- ment. The Mayor and the Senator invite me to attend the new musical hit, Stratosphere Follies . 22
