,JQQJOIA7 .jrealtman Cjfaao September 6, 1944 found 71 Freshmen, ather timid, but determined, enter C-L high school. The first few days were somewhat confusing, but we soon became ad- justed to the schedule and the other perplexing difficulties of high school. After we became acquainted the class met and elected officers. The date for our initiation was October 4th-a day We'll never forget. Imagine our pretty Freshmen girls arriving at school on initiation morning arrayed in aprons and ribbons With petticoats two inches below the knee. Those old stockings and worn out shoes didn't help matters. The boys looked just as handsome as they sported their old knickers or knee pants and shirts that were buttoned down the back. How, in vain, they attempted to keep their hair parted in the middle and those green hair bows in place. The climax of the day was our presentation of a pantomime, The Life of Solomon Grundy. Remember that grave yard scene and the mock wedding???? Our first social event of the year was a skating party held at the Clarion Rink, November lUth. A neat profit of 9530.00 was the result. We are proud of our successful participation in the school's collection of milkweed pods needed by our government for war maintenance. The net profits from this project were approximately 9514.00 Our class is further helping Uncle Sam by salvaging tin cans for the scrap metal drive. Last year two of our boys, Quentin Bish and Winston Eshbaugh forfeited the privilege of becoming freshmen to defend Old Glory in our United States Navy. The ambitions of our class are exhibited by our conscientious cooperation and representation in Chorus, Band, Orchestra and on the basketball team. The Freshmen class appreciates the capable leadership rendered by their home room teachers, Miss King and Mrs. Songer. Our future is bright as we look forward to our Sophomore year with eager determination. C-L Panoroma - 29
