We are proud of our school because of its ideals of service, its spirit of cooperation, its standards of scholarship, its spirit of fair play in clean sportsmanship, its broad curricula, and its patriotic service to our community, state and nation. We are proud of our school because it is fulfilling the purpose for which it was intended. ln Northwestern Pennsylvania our school pioneers successfully in rural education. We have met our challenge. We have kept the faith. Our school is not only the pride of our patrons but it is also the realization of their hopes and dreams. lt has proved to be not only an adult social center of wide possibilities enlarging its sphere of influence daily in the lives of our patrons and youth, but it is also a means of cooperation among our neighbors. It has been truly a democratic institution. CAL Panorama - 6 Zglara! glcfozcafion We Wish to express our appreciation to the members of the Board who have served so faith- fully in the development of our Clarion-Limestone Consolidated School. Our school has developed and expanded so rapidly during the nine years that it now houses approximately eight hundred pupils and sur- passes many other older schools in the curricula offered and equipment available. The following courses of instruction are available in our high school: Academic Branches, Music instruction, Vocational Home Economics, Shop Work, Art, Scientific Courses, Instrumental Music Instruction, Physical Education, and Commercial Department. This advancement did not happen as a mat- ter of course. lt came about through the foresight and planning of our teachers and principal in co- operation With the Board of Education. The Clar- ion-Limestone Consolidated School stands today as proof that We have leaders in our community with the necessary stamina and faith in our youth and nation to believe that education is the foun- dation of our democratic nation. Opportunity is ever knocking. Let us be ready for the call. George Cole has en-tered into the service of his country. During his absence, William Ferry will serve as director. So Wrote the great Shakespeare many many years ago, and so, indeed, has the pas- sage ot time proved life to be in this world of ours, over and over again. ln reality the his- tory ot all the great nations is merely the stories of their heroes, as they come and go on the stage ot action, play their parts, and then go the Way of all humanity , and leave the stage clear for the appearance of the next players. Soon the great curtain is to rise for each ot you seniors upon the great drama of your lite. As you face the inevitable hour when you must step forth upon the great stage of life to meet the real tests ot your career, it is natural to look back over the drama that has already been presented and wonder just how Well it has achieved its fundamental purposefnamely, that ot preparing each of you to play his part :nost successfully. M. M. COLLETT B. S. in Education M. Ed. Mathematics and Science Clarion State Teachers College Pennsylvania State College University of Pittsburgh Day by day throughout your elementary and high school career you have been adding bit by bit some new Words and actions, hour by hour you have been absorbing some new thoughts or ideas: moment by moment you have been subconsciously rehearsing for the vivid drama that is now calling you into more vital activity. Every teacher along the way has done his best in assisting you to develop your personality and abilities to the highest degree possible. And now, with anxious hearts and best wishes for your future success, we throw the flaming torch to you, hoping that you will be able to meet the tests of lite as they arise and to carry on the highest ideals and traditions of your Alma Mater. As a guiding principle in your lives I would recommend that you give some serious thought to the following proverb: Sow a thought,-reap an action, Sow an action,-reap a habit, Sow a habit,-reap a character, Sow a character,-reap a destiny! C-L Panorama --- 12 fam Maier? Ween We Wkeze freeze Wawfimefe A great day was the day we entered the portals of Clarion-Limestone as the greenest Class of Freshmen our upperclassmen had ever witnessed for some time. Mr. Stahlman and Mr. Blank, as home room supervisors, pointedly reminded us that study halls were not to be wasted. Initiation day!!! This is a memory that will always be pleasant! Somehow going to classes with our books in milk-pails caused quite an excitement and also a little confusion. After everyone became acquainted we held our first class meeting. The officers chosen to direct our business matters were as follows: President ........ loanne Minich Vice President .... Rosetta Elder Secretary . . . Mary Iane Showers Treasurer .......... Earl Carter Our first skating party which was at Clar- ion Rink was a success although a few of us returned to school the next day with a few bruises and greater wisdom from our experi- ences. This helped us to become more grown up or serious minded and gave us a quiet cour- age to meet the pitfalls of the coming year. WWGVL We Wefze Silly Scfpfremcvzeft As a proud group, fewer in number, we willingly accepted the responsibility of initia- ting the Freshman Class who followed us. Our first class meeting was held under the supervision of our home room teachers, Mr. Carl Blank and Miss Pauline Naugle. The class officers elected were: President ...... Maxine Hindman Vice President . .. Ioanne Minich Secretary ........ Donna Aaron Treasurer .. Delores McGregor When We Wwe After we were comfortably seated in the home rooms of our new teachers, Miss McMann and Miss Zigarella, we discovered our class was again decreased in number to 43. A class- mate, Wilmer Champion, was drafted and entered the Navy several months after school was under way. Our elected class officers were: President ........ Ioanne Minich Vice President .... Grant Minich Secretary ......... Rosetta Elder Treasurer ...... Richard Heasley Our class exhibited their salesmanship ability when our fund from the magazine con- test exceeded all others. Of course our school terms are never complete without skating par- ties and the Christmas Dance sponsored by our class was the highlight of our winter fun. Spring found us energetically planning the Iunior-Senior Prom which was held on May 18, With the changing of semesters came Mr. Graff to take the place of Mr. Blank who accepted a position with the Federal Govern- ment. When the elected treasurer moved away, Roberta Henry was chosen to that office. Our class funds were greatly increased as results of several skating parties. The last day of school found us bidding our friends good-bye and anticipating our well earned vacation. fee We 1944. King Cadmus Kerr and his attendants Grant Minich, Chester Minich, George Ray- buck, lack Reddinger, Ross Rankin, Rudolph Miller, Earl Reynolds, Richard Heasley, Robert Barnhart, and Edgar Shofestall, were received that night into the Queen's Bowery to witness Sarah Hamish, last year's Prom Queen, crown the new queen, Joanne Minich and to witness the appointment of the Maid of Honor, Rosetta Elder, and ten lovely maidens, Elsie Carrier, Maxine Hindman, Mary lane Showers, Iulu Iacox, lean Crate, Donna Aaron, Ioy Klouse, Leona Blachier, Roberta Henry, and Mary Louise Ganoe, to the Court. Blossom Time, as a decorative theme, gave an appropriate setting for the mellow music of Neal Buckley and his orchestra from DuBois. With sadness at the thought that next year would be our last session at C-L, we finished out the remaining days of our lunior year. C-L Pcmoramq -7 13. 'Qu' ow Aan e re igmnec! ,Shadow Miss Stewart and Miss McMann gave us a hearty Welcome as We somewhat relunctantly returned for our last high school year. The leaders We chose for the final lap Were: President ......... Grant Minich Vice President .... Cadmus Kerr Secretary .......,.... Iulu Iacox Treasurer . . . Mary Louise Ganoe The fortune-telling Madame Zingo and Madame Bingo caused a riot at our I-IalloWe'en Dance Which increased our treasury fund 341300. What a full year it promises to be. We had a Christmas Dinner on December 22 that was a party remembered by all. Refreshments were served by the Home Economics depart- ment and gifts and good will were exchanged by all. We had a farewell speech by our boys Who were going into service. To prove that the music department is making progress with the students, Miss Edsall, music director, will conduct the operetta Rose of the Danube on March l5th and 16th. Not to be outdone by our successors, we Seniors must put on a Class Play using only the most talented players. Mrs. Songer has consented to produce the play Professor, How Could You in all its glory. LT-L Panorama e 24 lfmior Cfdfifff eA45f0l y September 6, l944 brought 63 jolly juniors to the corridors and rooms of Clarion Limestone School. Our class, under the supervision of Miss Zigarella and Mr. Kahle decided to make this one of the most joyful and prosperous years in our education. After getting reacquainted with our old pals and welcoming our new- comers we decided to hold our first class meeting. On this occasion, we elected our class officers. Our rings, which were ordered last fall came this summer and were dis- tributed a few weeks after school started. Everyone was excited and very well satisfied with his ring. On October lOth we held a skating party at Clarion Rink. lt was well attended by students of C-L and a good time was enjoyed by all except for the few bruises and burns acquired. We joined our fellow classmates of C-L in a Very enjoyable Hallowe'en Party held in the auditorium on October 27, l944. One of the outstanding problems which confronts our class this year is to present a bigger and better prom for our graduating seniors. Another big problem for us is to promote the selling of war stamps and bonds and this problem is meeting with much success. After a very enjoyable and profitable year we shall conclude our educa- tion as juniors and hope to return next year as seniors. C-L Panorama -- 25 ,Sp omore-Kfcm 4 7 HISTORY OF SOPHOMORE CLASS Last year we were a group of young care free Freshmen. We liked all the members of our faculty and with their help we have progressed rapidly. This year we, the Sophomore Class, numbering 47 students, entered the portals of Clarion-Limestone on September 6, 1944, looking forward to a pros- perous school term. Our first meeting was held on September 16, in Mr. Riley's room. We elected the class officers. At our second meeting we discussed the initiation of the Freshmen and decided on a number of humorous things for them to do. We also decided to have a skating party which was held at Brookville Novembr 24, 1944. Our class is divided into two groups. The A group is under the super' vision of Mr. Bird Riley and the B group sponser is Miss lrene Evans. To prove we are an ambitious class we have Sophomores in the band, Orchestra, Chorus, and on the basketball team. Many of the girls helped with the Golden Rule banquet which was a real success. We are looking forward to our junior year, ready for new adventures and striving to infprove ourselves, hoping that some day the school will be proud of us. C-L Panorama 1 28 ,JQQJOIA7 .jrealtman Cjfaao September 6, 1944 found 71 Freshmen, ather timid, but determined, enter C-L high school. The first few days were somewhat confusing, but we soon became ad- justed to the schedule and the other perplexing difficulties of high school. After we became acquainted the class met and elected officers. The date for our initiation was October 4th-a day We'll never forget. Imagine our pretty Freshmen girls arriving at school on initiation morning arrayed in aprons and ribbons With petticoats two inches below the knee. Those old stockings and worn out shoes didn't help matters. The boys looked just as handsome as they sported their old knickers or knee pants and shirts that were buttoned down the back. How, in vain, they attempted to keep their hair parted in the middle and those green hair bows in place. The climax of the day was our presentation of a pantomime, The Life of Solomon Grundy. Remember that grave yard scene and the mock wedding???? Our first social event of the year was a skating party held at the Clarion Rink, November lUth. A neat profit of 9530.00 was the result. We are proud of our successful participation in the school's collection of milkweed pods needed by our government for war maintenance. The net profits from this project were approximately 9514.00 Our class is further helping Uncle Sam by salvaging tin cans for the scrap metal drive. Last year two of our boys, Quentin Bish and Winston Eshbaugh forfeited the privilege of becoming freshmen to defend Old Glory in our United States Navy. The ambitions of our class are exhibited by our conscientious cooperation and representation in Chorus, Band, Orchestra and on the basketball team. The Freshmen class appreciates the capable leadership rendered by their home room teachers, Miss King and Mrs. Songer. Our future is bright as we look forward to our Sophomore year with eager determination. C-L Panoroma - 29 SW WE PUBLISH THE E-L PAMUHAMA This work W Mr. M. M. Collett Miss Stewart ., Miss McMann . Darrell and the king's son, Karl, discover the plot and foil it, thus saving the lives of the king and his court.
