With this dedication, we ac- knowledge your thirteenth year of teaching kindergar- ten at Clarion Public School. A number of the seniors of 19 60 started on the long road of education in your class. These seniors, in addition to many others who know you, will always remember your admirable ability as a teacher. The Lasso Staff of 1960 is proud and pleased to dedi- cate this yearbook to you. BOARD OF EDUCATION LEFT TO RIGHT: Ray Bailey, Don Bowman, Mary Ennis, Lloyd Volker Edith Eaton, Verne Lewellyn, and Superintendent Christiansen. The Board of Education is the governing body of the Clarion School District. Members of the School Board are elected by the people of the community. The School Board's secretary and treasurer are appointed. Members of the School Board are Presi- dent Verne Lewellyn, Mr. Ray Bailey, Mr. Lloyd Volker, Mr. Don Bowman, Mrs. Edith Eaton, Miss Mary Ennis, secretaryg and Mr. Bob Davison, treasurer. Superintendent C. J. Christiansen also works closely with the board. Meetings are held the first Monday night of each month and at anyothertime that the need arises. Some of the main concerns of the Sch.ool Board are the school budget, salaries of the school's employees, and the pur- chase of school equipment. This year much oftheir time has been spent on the problem of school reorganization. A new school law, which is of direct concern to the student body, was passed by the School Board this year. This new law states that senior high students may bring outside dates to dances if the dates are registered and approved by the administration. Gllmcirm 1Huh1in: Szhnnls C. J. CHRISTIANSEN. surznlwrznnnur Gllarirm. llama To The Class of 1960: when one reaches his goal there is a definite feeling of satisfaction. No doubt you who are about to receive your diplomas have that feeling. However let me remind you the diploma will reflect only the effort and work you have put into it. This diploma and the degree of excellence it rep- resents will be your passport for the future. For many this will be the end of your formal edu- cation, for others just the beginning. what ever be the case may I wish for each of you the best in life and may you succeed in what ever you attempt. May the memories of your High School be pleasant and may your experience here lead to higher accom- plishments. Accept my hearty congratulations and remember that only those, whose ideals are high, reach the pin- nacle of success. Sincerely, C: J: Christiansen Superintendent L. G. A ceiling-high replica of the Eiffel Tower, covered with many tiny light bulbs, stood in the center of the floor. A mural at the east end of the gym ' showed peaceful Paris scenes, while a brick wall at the south side of the gym extended the length of the stage. Showing above the wall were cherry trees covered with numerous pink and white blossoms. A colorful spurting fountain, filled with flowers, sat on the steps at the north side of the gym. Park benches, quaint little street lights, and more blossom-covered trees sat in corners and around the edge of the floor. The stage was also decorated. In the background, strips of crepe paper were twisted at different angles and were fastened to a supporting structure. Large silhouettes danced on this background. Crossed flags hung above the stage decorations. PROGRAMME Supt. C. J. Christiansen Class Will ...... Class Prophecy ...... Style Show ..... . . . . . Mistress of Ceremonies Pajamas ....... .
