A flllilllt'lill survey ol the four tl1SlTIt'lb was authorized by the Clarion Joint Sehool Board in April 1953 to determine if the projeet eould be hnaneed. Kidder. Peabody K Company who made the survey assured the ,loint Board on Xlay ll. 1953 that a million dollar bond issue eould be H- naneed and marketed. The Authority appointed Kidder. Peabody K Company as its fiseal agent on July 6. 1953. On July 29. 1953 the Miola Sehool Building was struek by lightning and destroyed. Again. the edueational program was restrieted due to insuffi- eient space. Hr. Hufnagel reeeived final approval from the Department on working drawings and speeiheations in Oetober 1953. The joint board on October 20. 1953 requested the Authority to advertise for eon- struetion bids. Bids were opened on the night of Dec-ember 1. 1953 with the eonstruetion eontraets totaling 8921.321 Kidder. Peabody X Company purehased 8l.I25.ooo worth of sehool bonds at a negotiated sale from the Authority on Ueeember 1953. Un January l. 1951 the Department approved the amended building application eontaining the hnal figures and the Authority awarded eonstrue- tion eontraets on January 8. 1954. The Department approved the agreement of Lease between the Authority and school distriets on January 16. 1951. On January 20. 1951. ground was broken for the new Building. At the finaneial c-losing of the bond issue on January 26. 1951 the Authority reeeived a total of 31.185.999.l9 to ereet and equip the new sehool building. Everyone is eager for the day when Tt ean be used.
