Ralph Powers The Clarinda Chapter of the National Honor Society is an organization in which membership is coveted by many, but attained by few. To obtain membership, a student must be a senior or junior have a B average and the approval of both the faculty andthe active members. The club's purpose is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render services, to promote worthy leadership and to encourage the develop- ment of character in pupils of Clarinda High School. The boys also realize that the four planks, Clean 5DOflSm8f1Ship, Clean Speech, Clean Scholarship, and Clean Living, are things that tend to make the Clarinda club an active and thriving club, Some of the Hi-Y projects for this year were: The giving of Thanksgiving baskets to the needy of our town, oreparing Christmas toys for Orphans' homes, and taking care of the check room and pop stand at basketball games. ff--N of ,i kk

Since the class is a one-semester one, two staffs are appointed. Shirley Isaacson and Joy Ann Miller were co-editors for the first semester paper, Maurice Bender held that position the last semester.
