Our average enrollment has numbered thirty-five. Just as is true each year, our study of community life centering about atypical little town called Westport, has been one of the most interesting. The study of the importance of homes, churches, stores, and factories, and the facts about sources of food and clothing have provided us with true-to-life lessons. We have been constantly aware that everyone should have a place to fill in community life. The boys and girls drew maps and pictures of Westport, then represented a small section of the village on tables in the class room. Evelyn Tyo Linda Lou Wetzel Cheryl Windom Ronnie Wise Second rade When school began in September, quite a number of new faces came to the second grade. New members were Gary Holloway, Kathy Laird, Fritz Raab and Evelyn Tyo from Marion, Eddie Music from Kentucky, Bobby Ross from Gambier, Ohio, and Billy Roberts from Fort Wayne indiana. When we were all assembled, we numbered 39. Later in September, Philip Earhart, from Kentucky enrolled and later withdrew to go to Columbus. In November, Dean Hoffman from Columbus enrolled, and in January Patrick Hopkins came to us from Marion. At the present time our enrollment is 41. At Christmas time the second grade enjoyed being dolls, soldiers, snowflakes, and other toys when they participated in the Christmas operetta. During the year we have enjoyed working and playing together. Now that spring is here we are looking forward to our summer vacation.
