The Clarenceville Trolans started off their victorious grid campaign on September I8 by tnenng the Farmington Falcons 0-0 The following week the Trolans engaged an another tie game this time a 7 7deadlock with the Milford Redskins on the home field Ed Gilmore made all the Clarencevllle points Then after a week s rest the Trolans played host to the Northvllle Mustangs only to lose un the lsst thirty seconds 20-'I9 Bill Myers Clay Robbins, and Glenn Reed each made touchdowns for the Trolans and Ed Gilmore kicked one extra pomt The next week Clay Robbins tallied twice while Glenn Reed and Duck Godette scored one touchdown a piece as the Trogans blasted Clarkston 25-0 Gilmore made one extra pomt Then in their annual Homecoming game the Trolans held Holly to two first downs in the entire game and went on to win 13 0 on Bull Myers two touchdowns beaten Inkster Roosevelt Clay Robbins scored the only touchdown on a 68 yard run and Gilmore added the extra pomt After three straidwt wms the Trogans lost a heartbreakes to league-leading Keego Harbor l4-0 Then in the final game of the season the Trolans set a new school scoring record in their 32 6 rout of Brighton Bill Myers scored twice while Pat Killeen Larry Tucker and Clay Robbins collected one a piece and Gilmore booted two extra points At the end of the season several Trolans received honors from the various Detroit newspapers Fullback Ed Gilmore and Tackle Melvin Koch received All State honorable mention and were named to the Wayne-Okland County League ALL STAR team by the DETROIT TIMES Halfback Clay Robbins and Melvm Koch received the same honors from the DETROIT NEWS These three boys along with co-captains Bill Myers and Tom Rutila were among the twenty two boys selected by the coaches as the best in the League . . . . . 04044 Gawzbuf Kneelung Dave Reed manager Standing fleft to rlght Robert Hayes Joe Mltchell Duane Roy John Ferns Mr Horne Kenneth Jacobson captaln Richard Moyer Louls Dorrls The Clarenceville Hugh School Cross Country team, coached by Wllllam Horne began nts 'l953 season on Sept l8 with a practlce meet at home against Redford Umon, who emerged the winner On Sept 22 a triangular practice meet was held at Bentley agalnst Plymouth and Bentley rn which Clarenceville placed second On the 25th Clarencevnlle lost a home meet to Milford On Oct 2 the Trolan Hmeclads voslted Keego Harbor and were defeated by the score of 25 to 37 On October 9th Clarenceville defeated Avondale by the score of 21 to 37 and on the l4th the Trogans were defeated by Farmington fvve schools partucupatung Howell won the meet and Clarencevllle placed third Leland Wilcox, outstandmg Clarencevllle runner, placed second In doing so he won a medal and set two school records for the two mule run The prevoous records had been set In 1952 by Donald Knapp Wllcox s tnme of l0 33 set a new Invltatlonal record and also a new school record On October 24th an Invltatlonal Cross Country Run was held at Al bron College Fourteen schools partlclpated and Clarencevllle placed tenth On the 27th Clarenceville won a practlce meet against Detroit Lutheran On October 3lst the Regionals were held at Birmingham, Clarenceville placed eighth out of the frfteen Class B schools thatl artlclpated Leland Wilcox placed seventh and won a medal Letter wlnners for the 1953 season rnclude Louls Dons, John Ferris, Ken Jacobson captain, Joe Mitchell, Duck Moyer, Davld Reid manager, Duane Roy, and Leland Wilcox Joe Mitchell and Duane Roy will serve as co captalns for the l954 season l ' ' J 1 ' 2 1 ' 1 - ' 1 The Second Annual C.H.S.
