CCHS Presents: The Miracle Worker Flower Drum Song Will McClaren - the actor. Ron Guido in his role from The Miracle Worker. Contrary to popular belief, not all stars are on Broadway. We have a very sizable contingent of talent right here in Clarence High School. These “aspiring actors” and starving artists” showcase their special abilities in two Drama Club sponsored productions each year: a straight play in the fall and a musical play each spring. Over the years director Len Pappas and his troupe have won wide recognition for the artis- tic excellence of the shows. 1979-80’s offerings were no exception. The Miracle Worker was presented in the autumn of the year, with Amy Worden as Anne Sullivan and Linda Saffire as Helen. Candy Owen, Will McClaren, Tim Markey and Dale Miller also had major roles. All who saw it agreed that that this sensitive and demanding work was very well done indeed. The musical was Flower Drum Song. The sto- ry of three generations of Chinese Americans in the 1950’s. Lead roles were protrayed by Tim McKinney, Candy Owen, Rob Voltz, Andrea Eh- renrich, Laura Aikin, Becky Aikin, Tim Markey and Will McClaren. For all concerned, the shows were truly a labour of love, an experience that will not soon be forgotten. To quote William Wordworth, The music in my heart I bore, long after it was heard no more.” Amy Worden and Tim Markey in a scene from The Miracle Worker. 10 Student Life
