THE FALL OF THE CURTAIN The picture is o’er—Behold the cast! They are tired and weary, with hearts beating fast. Remember, with me, those great cheery days. Before all we Seniors go separate ways. In grammar school what a thrill it did seem When we realized we were fulfilling our dream. Mere “coming attractions” we were thought of then But sometimes I wish I were back there again. We then met our producers, so helpful and fine They did all they could to make school life sublime. Supervising producers—we hold out apart A calm, sturdy, hand clasp that comes from the heart. Our director, he too, added a certain finesse; He gave us assistance to help stand the test. Assistant directors, we send you our blessing— You always were there when matters were pressing! Technicians, we raise our voices in praise! You helped us in many numerous ways. The clubs are important to any success; Our records have testified, you are the best! To the staff of the “Saga”: best wishes to you; Your untiring efforts have guided us through, Your publicity was “great”; your efforts sublime; Your sports were so pleasant; Your prowess was fine. The superintendents of this book so elite; Your sincerity, thoughtfulness is beyond all defeat. Our casting—Just perfect; No one can deny Our grammar school teachers allowed us to “get-by”. Oh! when we were freshmen, with all our young trials The name we were known by was “green juveniles”. Oh! great the day when we sophomores became, We were given the title of “extras”, for shame! Another step onward; toward our well-dreamed-of goal; Into all of our studies we put heart and soul; “So near—yet so far—” were our turbulent moans But time e’er so vital had us soon on our thrones. The curtain has fallen on the play and its cast; But in our proud hearts it’s mem’ry will last. We “stars” now must leave this setting so dear So “stand-ins” march onward; It’s your turn next year! —Betty Landram
