This is the first yearbook to come from our new school and we have tried to capture as much of it as possible in the following pages. I feel that the staff and our advisor have all worked extremely long and hard to bring to you one of the best yearbooks in the history of Claremore High School. We have tried to capture for you all the happy times . . . sad times . . . times of victory . . . times of defeat . . . times of pressure . . . and times of relief. I’m sure that all of you have felt some of these emotions during this year. We hope to help you recall them com- pletely and accurately. To the Sophomores everything was new and exciting. They will probably never forget the thrill of the first day at high school. They will always remember the difficulties of being Sophomores as they look forward to being Juniors. For the Juniors school life was not changed too much, with the exception of the new building. The greatest change from a Sophomore to a Junior was in the students themselves. They advanced and matured a great deal. This year will remain a fond memory for them as they look forward to being Seniors of 1966. As for the Seniors, they will always remember the school year 1964-1965. They have enjoyed their se- niority and they are proud to be the first class to graduate from the new CHS. They had fun like everyone else, but in a different way. With every football game, pep rally, scholastic contest, and assembly tney leauzed how close they were to the end of their high school days. Now they realize that their days of fun and carefree excitement are almost over and that they must prepare themselves to live in an adult world. As they look back to the underclassmen, they say, Enjoy your high school days, for they are over too soon. Editor, 1965 Zebra DEDICATION E. C. SPRAGUE Superintendent To you, Mr. Sprague, Superintendent of Claremore City Schools, we proudly dedicate the 1965 edition of the Zebra. For many years you have been interested in all our activities. To you we say Thank You. IN MEMORIAM Miss Sisler, to you we give our tenderest thanks For showing us the way to live. 'Tis not So much the learning we have gleamed from you As 'tis the grand example you have shown, That breathed, Go and do likewise! ” to our hearts. Heaven bless you ever! and may we reflect On you, as on through life we go, A just delight in all our gains, Feeling 'twas largely due to help from you. We hold you dear in memory, As we shall carry with us through the years Your tender counsel, wise and noble words, An inspiration for the task ahead. BOARD OF EDUCATION Left to right: Mr. E. C. Sprague, Superintendent; Mrs. Louise Phillips; Mr. Jack D. Davidson, Mr. M. C. Walker; Mr. Willard Glover, President; Dr. Paul Baker; Mr. L. C. Clark Jr. ; and Mr. Aaron Dry, Superintendent Elect. Our School Board is not seen by our students in their everyday life, but it plays an important part in our school. Without this group, we could not function; without them our school would not have been possible. This group, which is so interested in the welfare of the student body, meets on the first Monday of every month during the school year. They give many hours of their time freely to enable our community to have a better, mote efficient school system. Meetings are open to the public. To these men we owe much appreciation and we take this time to thank them for all they have done for us. SUPERINTENDENT MR. E. C. SPRAGUE The completion of our new senior high school is a dream come true. Every high school student should be very proud of our marvelous building and do his part to keep it in excellent condition for the years to come. You have a chance to accomplish even greater things here and I am sure your time spent in Claremore High School will be a golden memory in the years to come. I take pride in our school. Teachers and the students are to be congratulated on having a nice place to work. Give your best, for nothing gives more pleasure than a job well done. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE This is the first Zebra to be issued in our new high school of which you are as proud as I am. This building, the inspiration, and dream of many interested people, did not become a breathing structure until its halls and rooms were filled with a vibrant, pulsating, young generation, whose destiny is unknown. With each new test and crisis there is always a need for those who are courageous, thoughtful, and ambitious. With the combined efforts of willing students and conscientious faculty members, Claremore High School hopes to fill these needs. When skill and love work together, expect a masterpiece. The Zebra Staff members deserve my special congratulations on an excellent production. The same is true of the other activity groups; many outstanding performances have been rendered by all of them. My sincere appreciation goes to a wonderful and understanding faculty for making my tasks as simple as possible. I would like to express my thanks to Mr. Sprague and the Claremore Board of Education for the fine facilities and support they have provided. It is my hope and prayer that you may live long in the brightest era known to mankind. SECRETARIES Mrs. Charlotte Oquin serves as secretary to our principal, Mr. McKeever. She is a graduate of Oola- gah High School and re- ceived her B. S. degree in Education at Northeastern State College. Her work is very much appreciated by the students and fac- ulty of CHS. Mrs. Louise Phillips is the secretary to our super- intendent, Mr. Sprague. She graduated from Clare- more High School and re- ceived her B. S. degree at Oklahoma State University Before taking the post as secretary she taught school in the Claremore School System.
