Every man, every woman, carries in heart and mind the image of the ideal place, the right place, the one true home, known or unknown, actual or visionary. A houseboat in Kashmir, a view down Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, a gray gothic farmhouse two stories high at the end of a red dog road in the Allegheny Mountains, a cabin on the shore of a blue lake in spruce and fir country, a greasy alley near the Hoboken waterfront, or even, possibly, for those of a less demand- ing sensibility, the world to be seen from a comfortable apartment high in the tender, velvety smog of Los Angeles. . . -Edward Abbey- nf E - v l 4 Af 4 -if -Ml., ' ,.,. .4 , mimi, 1. Don Chester did a creditable job at quarterback considering he had never played the position before. The running game was fairly consistent with HMC senior Jimmy Reed leading the way at fullback. Freshman Blake lssacson also played well at running back, particularly in the Stags' 13-0 win over Pomona-Pitzer. Tom Carroll for the cover design and some interior art work. Debbie Samuels for typing a whole shit load of copy. Kent Oswald for stuffing mail boxes. And Jon Lee, Jon Leung, Brad Wishek, Beth Karras, Mike Gabriel and Brad Barbeau for pictures. But credit for getting the book done goes to three very good, loyal and hardworking friends. Due to fin order of importancej my procrastination, not knowing what in the hell I had gotten myself into, lack of organization, lack of cooperation from other people and a very unfortunate turn of events, the 1978 AYER headed into the final stretch with little completed and without its fearless leader. Fortunately my friends took over, worked on it for four straight days and turned out a better yearbook than if the fearless leader had still been around. I am a very lucky man to have such friends. And since I am officially editor, I am dedicating this book to the loyalty and hard work of those friends: Dave Tuffs, Paul Cronin and Kathy Evans. Kelly T.
