l I ln his second year as Superintendent of the Hickory City Schools, Dr. W. M. lenlzins has done mi-Ich for the advance- ment of the city schools. He received his BS. degree from Vlfake Forest, his Master of Education. from Duke, and his Doctor of Education from U.N.C. There are three requisites for the successful operation of a high school: first, a school board composed of intelligent, honest, devoted citi- zens who understand that their function is policy-making, and not administration, sec- ond, a first-rate superintendentg third, a good principalfw Taking time from their active lives in the community, the members of the School Board always strive for improvement Within the school system. Witli the help of Dr. W. M. Jenkins, superintendent of city schools, they have completed their plans for the new addition to Hickory I-ligh.tThe Board has also approved the program of supplementary classes to be held this summer. Under the leadership of Principal W. D. Cottrell, the school is kept up to date with recent develop- ments in education. xDr. james B.
