From T The , Gffice ' On the Sth of June, 1953, dissolution petitions of Common School Districts No. 12, 37, 55, 65, 70, 82, and 8h of the Clara City High School Area were heard by the Board of County Commiss- ionersg and, there being no objections, these seven districts were dissolved and annexed to Independent School District No. 62. Through the addition of these and seven more districts, Joint Independent Consolidated School District No. 62 of Chippewa County and No. llh of Kandiyohi County came into being. This enlarged district consists of approximately one hundred sections of land having an assessed valuation of about Sl,725,000.00. This expansion program naturally led to increased enrollment and to the need for a larger school building. Accordingly, an addition was constructed durin l95h-55 which, together with new equipment, cost approximately S35S,OO0.00. The plaque pictured above is symbolic of increased and equal- ized educational opportunity in this community. It marks the passing of the one-room school, the dedication of excellent, enlarged facilities which are available to every rural and urban child and adult in this area. This ornament is furthermore, symbolic of community enter- prise,-enterprise engendered, owned, and shared by everyone in our newly formed school district. It is a mark of homogeneity, ll emblem of widespread cooperation. It is a cornerstone of our educational program shall rest during the next generation.
