' sf Bd. of Educalion President Herbert Lange Treasurer John Staver Clerk Dlrector Henry Frikke Ben H Berends Director Direct0r Nessel Kluver Lawrence Grus ing From T The , Gffice ' On the Sth of June, 1953, dissolution petitions of Common School Districts No. 12, 37, 55, 65, 70, 82, and 8h of the Clara City High School Area were heard by the Board of County Commiss- ionersg and, there being no objections, these seven districts were dissolved and annexed to Independent School District No. 62. Through the addition of these and seven more districts, Joint Independent Consolidated School District No. 62 of Chippewa County and No. llh of Kandiyohi County came into being. This enlarged district consists of approximately one hundred sections of land having an assessed valuation of about Sl,725,000.00. This expansion program naturally led to increased enrollment and to the need for a larger school building. Accordingly, an addition was constructed durin l95h-55 which, together with new equipment, cost approximately S35S,OO0.00. The plaque pictured above is symbolic of increased and equal- ized educational opportunity in this community. It marks the passing of the one-room school, the dedication of excellent, enlarged facilities which are available to every rural and urban child and adult in this area. This ornament is furthermore, symbolic of community enter- prise,-enterprise engendered, owned, and shared by everyone in our newly formed school district. It is a mark of homogeneity, ll emblem of widespread cooperation. It is a cornerstone of our educational program shall rest during the next generation. Wise in math, baseball, and gas-station operations, Deck is not wise about women. Spring hits him and he finds himself engaged to Marcella, Deck re- luctantly abandons college hopes and announces he would like to get married as soon as he turns eighteen. Mother says HNonsenselH Dad takes another View by letting him take full responsibilities of the service station. nwhen we come back we'll talk about your plans, Deck,-your plans for marriage.u Dad, Mother, and Kid Sister head for the lake. The service station flows over with tourists wanting rooms, Beef, a truck dr- iver, Joe Pauley, a college field man, Deck's older sister, Liz, and her insurance selling husband, John, Marcella, his fiancee with her mother, Mrs, Payne and three little hellion cousins. Dutch Kelly, the more ir- resistible of the two adventure- some co-eds, is stuck with a var- sity show, She has to write it or find someone who can. She finds music to fit them. More inportant still, she finds Deck Smith, but finds him in a mat- rimonial trap that is about to spring. Everything is ironed out and in the end Deck goes back to college, Q QNXGKA 2.51 Y BLACKHAW-' Juniors President.......Jim Wagner Vice Pres.....Duane Schoen Secretary....Diane Sechler Treasure....Vernon Jurgens Row 1 Row 2 Row 3 Row I+ -Beverly Prindle, Muriel Gerdes, Lee Ann Prekker, Sharon Sweep, Diane Sechler, Sidney Sell, Mrs, Martha Zeller, Donna Ammermann, Pat Thein, Esther Kluver, James Fritz, Donald Meyer, John Fisher. -Karen Nelson, Emolyn Grussing, Schwitters, Richard Lyman, Gail Arlys Hilbrands, Margie Coleman, Ruth Ann Zimmer, Marion Knipp, Lalim. Bob Balster was the big gun in this game with his running and passing. In the second game of the year, the Hawks were again victorious when they literally shellacked the Maynard Eagles with a H3-7 score. The team kept on its winning ways when they defeated the Belview Bluejays by a score of 12-ll. The Blackhawks were dealt a severe blow in this game when George Thein suffered a broken collar bone and Bob Balster a torn cartilage.
