Sennorprophecg AROUND TH WORID QMeeting the Seniors of '53D While traveling through South America, we two seniors of 1954 were stalled with our automobile on a lonely road ln Fcuador As we were deciding on what to do we heard a lfud noise Startled, we turned around To our surprise it was a mule trainer but also a former Clara City graduate, Norman Ledeboer He said the weather benefited his health so much that he had decided to stay in S A He accompanied us to the capital city, Quito As we were very hungry and tired we stopped at the first eating place, nPop Eyes Cafe teria W We thought our imaginatlon was playing tricks on us for the waitress was none other than Shirley Reiners who in formed us that the place was owned by Dwaine Anderson She also said that August Langenbou was at the time making scrambled eggs, for he had won the national Egg Cracking Contest From there we journeyed to Chile in a nhot rodn which we bought at HSell's Selling Serv1ce,Everything from Buttons to Bowsln Operated by Miss Marion Sell Crossing the border a large sign gazed at us. nGood Hot Chile! Von't burn your tongue 'cause 1t's Chile today, Hot Tomaliel Roger Huisinga's Chile Patioln We were unaole to stop because the hot rod had lost its brakes when in the making because of an idea of a scientific genius, Harry Roelofs But then we lifted our foot off the accelerator a little and coasting down a hill just avoided running into Clarence Beckman who was leading a pack of Llamas across the highway Coasting onto Main Street in Valparaiso we saw B111 Jaenisch direct ing traffic and Dorothy Slagter with an umbrella trying to keep Bill's asbestos foot pad from getting too warm from the rays of the sun It was getting awfully cool so we boarded a plane to Rio de Janeiro The hostess seemed to be familiar when she crossed the Tropic of Capricorn, Vuriel announced that IB tighten our safety belts for tkere was a very thick jungle below which made the pilot, Lester Klinghagen, nervous when he thought of the crocodiles being trained by Dean Anderson who was the winner of the 1956 Olympic Skl4ng Contest in Europe After arriving in Rio do Janeiro, a double decked bus took to the Presa de Los Santos There a large triple string, horn band was playing, directed by Mr Vernon Ammermann, who received the nblue ribbonu of the Soap box Derby Race Thus ended our trip in S A and we glided across the ocean to Africa There we were informed that we could not go into the jungle because cannibals had just raided the President of the cammeroons' hcuse and their best detective, Alma Negen, was working on the case She was being assisted by Mavis Roelofs, former Judge of Probate Court in Willmar, hinnesota, U S A in 1962 Then the plane took off for Alexandria, Wgypt, where we learned that Norman Grussing had replaced General Naguib as leader of the Egyptian government because of more efficient experience Finished with Africa we slipped up to Rome where we found that Lyla Koenen had replaced Valet Parez as Venetian rowboat singer Her accompaninist was Ervin Swanson who played a guitar From here we skipped over the Alps up to Moscow where we learned that Stanley Neyer had replaced Stalin after a heated argument between Malenkov and Malik. ARKYND THE WORLD Cccnt.J Quite different in the English environment is James Gerdes, who is the Royal Barbarist. He told us how his co- worker, Arlene Kleene, was busy doing a 'hair-do' for Queen Elizabeth right then and wanted us to stay and visit. So after a few hcurs visit we took wing and flew out of sight. Looking down on New York City, we were thrilled to be back once again. I guess it is style for women to be taxi drivers for Audrey Grussing took us to the Grand Central Station. She had replaced Calvin Jaenlsch who was offered the position of Dexter in the WCorless Archer' show. Breathing in the fresh Washington air we came into contact with the president of the United Women Mineworkers, Gerald Behrends. He told us he was having quite a bit of trouble with Mr. Bonald Coleman, President of the United States, concerning these workers. Stopping in Chicago we saw a wrestling match between Gene Thein and Rocky Marciano, Jr. He CGeneJ packs a punch that's full of power But a doctor, Muriel Petersen, is al ways present She had copped the Cornflower scholarship to the Medical University of Pennsylvania We arrived in Ninn eapolis just in time to see the Laker's play Rodney Molenaar coaches the team from early spring 'til late fall Following highway 212 we stopped for the usual snack in Glencoe. To our amazement Iavonne Gatzmeyer welcomed us to the most delectable Chinese dish She is the new reception st at Joe's Cafe ' Just as we entered Clara City we ran out of gas Lucky Erna Wachman's husband runs a filling station She fives gas free to all her former friends when her husband isn't around That proves that home is the cheapest place yet for we entered Clara City on free gas Arriving home we picked up the Clara City Herald to read the latest HGWS There on the fr nt page in big head lines was written NLCCAL CLARA CITY GIRL TAKES OVER AL CAPP'S FA OUS CCMIC STRIP, LIL' ASNERIW It explained about Marlene Fritz received Al Capp's will and papers, also, how she was going to continue the 'Sadie Hawkin's Day' races Our eyes roved over the page we caught another familiar name uHarlene uss graduates from the Veterains Training School, What will happen nextU9999999?999 Thus ended our trip around the world We want to wish all the seniors of 1953 more success and happiness for ten years and after.
