Dear Graduates of 194-7: Baltimore needs leaders form the teen-age group, young men and young women who are willing to assume responsi- bility in the home, at work, and in the community. Many of the city's youth do not want to take responsibility and all it entails because it requires time, sacrifice, effort and less time for self-centered activities. All through your school life, the teachers at Barton have kept before you the need for the right kind of leadership and have done everything possible to de- velop qualities for good leadership. Every experience in school and out has been planned to this end so that you can advance in your work and be ready and willing to assume community responsibility. . My hope is that Barton has succeeded in developing in you an attitude to accept your full 'responsibility of citizenship cheerfully and to fulfill your obligations with courage and satisfaction.
