In their sophomore year they gave a basket social, which was a great success and for entertainment beforethe social they enacted a play, 'The Ghostly Passenger During this same year the freshmen joined with them for their Freshman Sophomore Picnic which took place that year at the Sol Duc Hot Springs At this occasion everyone present received a sunburn and a dusty ride in pickups to and from, along with their fun in the pool. In their Junior year the most important event of the year was the Junior Prom, held November 25, 1946, in the High School gymnasiu . Their theme for this dance was NDown by the Old Mill Stream , and the gymnasium was appropriately decorated Also during this year was the Junior Senior Banquet, held at lake Crescent Lodge in which a good time was had by all who attended This year the seniors' main activity has been their senior ball, which was held May l, 1948 This ball was held with all the beauty and dignity that is so traditional here at Clallam Bay High School The members of the class of '48 were co hosts with the Juniors at Lake Crescent for the Junior Senior banquet and as a final gesture the Senmor sneak closed the activities for the Class, to be followed only by the Senior Church Se vice and graduation. CEf7d55'3 qgvopgegga As we look into our telescope for the future C this invention is credited to the graduation Class of '48J we find many strange an unexpected things have happened to our brave l2', who departed from good old Clallam Bay High School so confidently and full of hope ir '48, Let us now scan the horizon through our telescope and peer a little closer Coming into view, who should we see but EARL DORAN Earl always has had a great passion for station wagons, and as we see him now he is out in his woodshed splitting atoms fromhis atomic station wagon, which we are sur! his ingenius brair, finding no other with such a passion, invented So we leave Earl, the atom splltter, and go o Gradually another form dimly crosses our lens and as we get clearer view, we are surprised to see VIRCINIA TLFR Virginia, who we always thought came closer to a nightingale than any other girl, is now thrilling audiences at the hetropol'tan Opera House with her voice. Virginia made the now nationally famous song, 'Mamselle from on the Spitn popular Though her sin ing career takes most of her time, she still designs some of her own clo hes and has set many styles for the newer look' of tomorrow. As our horizon grows dim er we focus in another direction and find NEVSOM BAKER. Newsom, after completimg his course in college, with the ability he always has had for understanding other peoples's best interests has become famous by inventing a special kind of corn p aster- after you use them, you plant them in the garden, and low and behold CORN!! I : n n a membership of fifteen. n O ll - - - n u IV I a fg N . We leave the waving corn tassels to s ift our lens to a small town, and as we come closer we see a shop with a sign saying, 'IF WE CAN'T STUFF EM' NOBODY CAN', and if it isn't BARBARA Barbara is a well known taxider mist, her most spectacular accomplis ment being her stuffed cow , which ready has gone down 1 history as a feat 'unsurpassed by an one As our view Of Barbara dims, we lengthen our range and gaze into the vastness of Hollywood, California As we near a particular studio we hear a familiar voice say ng, '51, S1,Senorlta and we find IAX BALHEHDE ax Khe always did have a 'way' with womenl is starring in a series of pictures called, 'The Affairs of Romeo , portraying many exciting bull fight ing scenes and thrilling romance The whole country is now saying '81, Si', instead of 'Hubba Hubba' Adjust ng our lens again, we leave Max and his Senoritas and find a la ge noisy crowd Neari g the noise we see the big illuminating letters, 'DOLORES, The Joman Prizefighter , Yes, and as we get closer we see Dolores Fernandes, Our classmate of '48', really landing her punches like she always did Dolores of today is noted for vim, vigor, vitality and punch, and is billed as 'The Dame that Packs a Wallop As the view of Dolores fades we see the outlines of an airplane, and sure enough the Gagnons are out for their Sunday morning airing Buzz Gagnon has secome famous for his works in electricity, especially his device for turning t e crank of the light plant backward and sucking all the light bulbs into the wires He is also well known in the aeronautical field some of his d redevil exploits have shocked not only the nat on, but the whole world! The view of Buzz grows hazier and changing our focus, we strangely enough ffrd ourselves on familiar territory again We see familiar roads and chuckholes, and if it 1sn't Clallam Bay! Ne glimpse again deer Old C B H S Ve leave Maxine and shift our gaze to another loc 1 area We are an may our for she squintirg moreclosely, look who's there!! It's MAXIFE GOODMAN and she well have reason to ponder, for she has assumed the task of redecorating ol 'stamping grounds' If it were any one but Maxine, we wouldn't stand t, ut we now she will put plenty of th ught on the 'chintzy drapes chooses Chintzy drapes are very com or n the schools of today Before this task she had just finished 'chintzing up the White House, and has be come very famous as an interior decorator amazed to see a completely modernized farm. Everythi g works by machinery on a push button system Fow, our curlosity is aroused and who should we find The view of our little secretary grows hazier and we find our but our old classmate, CLAREhC TILLER, who has won fame nationally for his book or perfect 'How to Farm without Getting Up Early' we think Clarence s t e example of 'The ideal farmer of today As our lens shift, our gaze is riveted to another area the city A we rear an office building, we hear the mile a minute clatter of a type writer, with an though, 2OO Coming closer, we see our old classmate, PHANOY KONOPASKI, typing intent look on her face We unde stand the concentration part for you'd have to concentrate to hold the world's typing record of words per minute, with no errors Yes, our little hanoy is the very successful secretary of today, and by the way we forgot to add another im portant item In ter spare t1ne Phanoy is a Powers Model. telescope taking us to arother city area We find this election year, an one campaign pester catches our eye, for it says, 'First John Adams, next John Quincy Adams, and now DVWVY ADANS' We hear the roar of a cherring crowd and adjust our lenses to see a platform cn which a speaker steps There is a hush, and we car re r veryplginly as tto speaker begins, 'Fr1ends, Romans, and Countrymen, lend me your ears Yhy 1t's Dewey Adams we thought that voice sounded familiar Dewey is a very famous orator and lawyer of the day, and our next president A peculiar odor now assails us, and as we come close we are pract 'cally knocked out' for whom do we see but HELEN ARBEITER in an operating room, Ether, ether, everywhere and no air to breath, no, Helen's not the patient, but a famous doctor, and author of the best selling book, 'M Latest Cutting Up', and 'On Removing Tonsils with a Fish Hook ' She looks very happy in her occupation, but that ether gets us!!
