J.V. Volleyball Our J.V. Volleyball teom played exceptionally well over the 1986-1987 season. The team has greatly im- proved over the lost few years. They proved to be tough competition during their U.C. match which went into overscore. Beoting Hoover by a landslide gove us all high hopes. First-yeor player, Holly Nichols, was o great boost to the team, as well as mony outstanding new freshmen. The improvement in the team shows they are on their way to an even better season next yeor. l. April Harrelson is out to kill. 2, Jenny Womack appears sidetracked by. . .whot's that name again? Varsity Volleyball FUN! COMPETITIVE! AGGRESIVE! These words describe this year's volleyball season. The girls not only had fun, but also lm- proved their skills considerably. We learned a lot of new skills and as a result, became a very competitive team, said team captain, Senior Connie Roth. One of their best matches was against Mission Bay High School. The girls played a total of five games, defeating the Bucs three games to two. We never gave up, we fought until the end!, said Senior Tonya May. The team was consistent in the effort they put into each game. Seniors Con- nie Roth and Sandie Cupit were a very important part of the team, commented Coach Miller. Sandie Cupit was voted Most Valuable Player of the season. CCongratulations Sandielj. Although most of the varsity players are graduating this year, next year's team looks very promising, said Senior Stella Simone. The varsity returning players for next year are Juniors Agueda Grajeda, who has a great serve, and Michelle QShellyJ Miller, who by the way, has a killer spike! Congratulations to all thegraduatlng Seniors! We look forward to a great season next year. 1. Tracy Howthon gets ln position for a bump. 2.
