OFFICERS CLUB: FIRST ROW: Janice Whitaker, Kathy Keck, Melissa Payne, Rosalind Overton, David Overton, Danny Bolton. SECOND ROW: Ronnie Col- lins, Mark Cole, David Stanifer, Rick Robinson, Roger Beason. THIRD ROW: Larry Pressnell, Keith Campbell, Jimmy Cosby, David Tripp, Nancy Bolden. The Officers Club is a new group, in its first year at Claiborne County High School. It is composed of heads of the various clubs and classes. One role of the Officers Club is that of furnishing a clearinghouse for student activities scheduling. Another is acting in a consultative and advisory capacity to the school administration. From its inception, the Officers Club has been expected to reflect responsible student opinion on, issues, and student reaction to administration policy. To properly fulfill its functions, the Officers Club will work toward the same general objectives as the Student Council, but in a different style. It will supplement the Stu- dent Council without substituting for it. Between both groups will emerge more assur- ance of completely representative cross sections of student body spokesmen. The tone of Officers Club liaison with the administration will be on a more informal note than that of the Student Council. Faculty, students, and administration will be watching with interest to see how well this new conception of dual-level student -administration rapport will rise to meet the needs of a growing enrollment and an expanding framework of student activity opportunities . 105
