DRAMATICS It was a busy theatrical year at C. H. S. starting o with the postponed junior-now senior-class play What a Life with Amory Lynch as the famous Henry Aldrich. Then came the Quivira League Drama Festival in which we played host to eight nearby schools. The speech c1ass's Balcony Scene rated a I at this event and also at the regionals in Hays. Frances Christie, Betty Merklinger and Pat Donovan each received much acclaim for their solo readings. Spring saw the junior class make its first dramatic efforts in Meet Corliss Archer with Nancy Moran in the title role and Joe Chism as the squeeky-voiced adoring Dexter Franklin. ---- 1 9 'QW L, , . The paper does much more than supply the reader with school news. It gives the students working on the paper a sense of respon- sibility and working on the Wildcat Scratch impresses upon our minds the need for co-operation and given us some idea what it is like to work on a newspaper. A new A. B. Dick mimeograph was added to the equipment and the paper was mimeographed again during second semester. Mrs. Fusillo and Miss Harper are the Scratch advisors. 24
