RON BREYNE SHEL PHILIPS Captain Most Improved Most Valuable Most Inspirational Outstanding Cross Country Individuals Coach Cook and manager Dick Gerhardis take time to pose with the only seniors to complete the season, Ron Breyne and Steve Small. Coach Cook is seen here already planning strategy for next fall's harriers. All in the picture will be returning next year except for Ron Breyne, third from the right. The squad knows that it has a big job ahead of them without the talents of Ron to lead the pack.

Charging down the hill are Ron Breyne, Keith Woodard QBeavertonj, and Walt Wleninger. Ron suffered from a pulled muscle, and everyone was slowed by the extreme cold. Keithwoodard, Metro- District champion, barely edges Ron Breyne in a four- way meet with Gresham, Beaverton, and Astoria. Walt Meinenger nabbed third place in the Clackamas victory. Coach Cook's harriers were closely grouped, enabling them to win. Harriers Establish Best Season Ever In the first meet of the season, Ron Breyne, Steve Fendal, and Mike War- ner beat last year's TYV mile champ- ion Doug Whin. In the process the Cavs defeated Oregon City 21-38.

T Junior Varsity From the front: Tim Barker, Phil King, Jim gen, Rick Howard, Jack Wright. Posting six wins and only three losses in league competition, the junior varsity harriers are looking forward to competing as varsity members next year. Tim Bar- ker capped a successful season by finish- ing l2th at the district tournament. The freshmen cross- country team end- ed with a losing 3- 5 league recordg how- ever, several boys revealed great po- tential as they progressed during the year.
