An outside assembly held in connection with Fire Prevention Week, marked the an- nouncement ofthe four princesses who com- peted for the honor as first annual Miss Flame. During each Queen's full year reign, she represents the community as a symbol of fire prevention and participates in various advertising events sponsored by the fire de- partment. Cecile Hansen, crowned Miss Flame during halftime of the Sunset game, received a large trophy, roses, and a robe. She also reigned at the after-game dance. Firemen conducted a practice firedrill on the football field during the assembly and also performed at halftime of the game. miss flame - 1 Er. starts new tradition Contestants were introduced by Fire Chief Harry Carpenter at the afternoon assembly. Flames leaped high above the Victory Bonfire put ,on by the senior class under the direction of Dick Led- gerwood. The football team warmed up for the game with the bonfire in the background. Cavalettes made the hoop which is carried by Holly Smith and Pam Tamura.
