EXCHANGE STUDENTS LINDA HART I shall never forget April Fool's Day of 19593 it was on that day that I was told I had been chosen to be the American Field Service exchange student from Clackamas High. My home for the summer of 1959 was to be with my new family in San Rafael consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Juan Navaro, two younger sisters, Marta and Maria Cristiana, and Ana Adella., who was my age. Besides the Navaros, whom I consider my second family, each person whom I met made me feel right at homeg and within a week, I had established countless lasting friendships with the people of the Argentine. I attended school each dayg and in this way, I was able to compare the two educational programs of our countries. During the short period of three months, I learned a great deal about South American traditions, customs, and, most important, had the opportunity to see how student live in another part of the world. Since returning, I have had a chance to share my experiences with others by giving talks to many groups in the community. It truly has been a wonder- ful experience. NILZA ERICSON When, last 'year, I was called over the telephone and heard a voice telling me Nilza, youlre going to the United States! You get the scholarship X Honestly, it is impossble to discribe my happiness at that moment, as it was also impossible to foresee how wonderful I've found everything here. I could call the months I've spent here a realiza- tion of a dream and a dream I'm sure will be unfor- getablel I owe much of my contentment to all my fellow students at Clackamas who have shown me through this year, a great deal of friendship and acceptance. My classes have been as enjoyable as they could possi- bly be, and that I owe to my teachers who broadened my experience and who I could call my friends. In addition to the wonderful time I've had at Clackamas, stands the love and comprehension of thc Robertson family, with whom I lived this year. and who will aways stay in n1y thoughts as my second family. I wish to thank all the people at Clackamas. students and teachers alike, for being so kind in acquainting me with the customs and habits of the American people. I will never forget the many won- derful things that happened to me, and the wonderful people I have met and with whom I've shared my experiences.
