FOREWORD The high school years represent stages of growth and transition. The direction and form in which the individual grows greatly depends upon his high school. Through athletic, scho- lastic, and social activities Civic Memorial High School is dedicated to developing the indivdual. This year the Spectator Staff has tried to capture this individual development and pre- serve it for lasting memories. We have de- viated from the usual style in an effort to pre- sent the student body with a truly unique edition. We hope this annual brings you as much enjoyment as it has brought us. With each year he gains a broader and livelier knowledge of English words and a clearer understanding of his own language. Habits of exact work and logical thinking, so essential in his Latin study, are an asset in his other subjects. Modern Language Mrs. Traver instructs her French II class. French and German are the modern languages most recommended for those entering the fields of science and engineering. The Art History and Art Appreciation courses are geared more toward the aesthetic understanding of the arts. In the History class the development of man’s cultures and arts are followed in a chronological order starting with the cave man and following through to modern day.
