PRINCIPAL Each year as the date for graduation draws closer, I find myself devoting' more and more time and thought to the members of the senior class. You are about to leave Civic Memorial High School. Graduation will be here so quickly that I hardly have time for a final evaluation of your growths and of the changes which have taken place in you since your freshman year, 'l our experience at Civic Memorial has been complex and varied. Consequently, my final impression of you is made up of many things—of pride in the diligence with which you are capable of working, pride that is tempered with amazement at the rapidity with which your behavior can change from that of a sophisticated adult to that of a child; and of confidence that you are well prepared to meet the demands of modern living, mixed with anxiety for a few shortcomings which you have not yet recognized. However, predominant at this time of year is the increased awareness that although the opportunity to influence you, guide you. and teach you will end. I will soon be able to observe the effects of our influence, guidance, and teaching in your lives. Since you are the products of Civic Memorial High School, and the basic reason our school system exists, you may alwavs be sure of my deep and continuing interest in you. Forest Kohlburn, Principal 7

SUPERINTENDENT As you graduate you are entering a world which is far different from the one in existence when you entered school twelve years ago. We were entering a period in our history when our country was recover- ing from war and beginning a period of great expansion in popula- tion, housing, labor, and industry. You have seen the fruits of this ex- pansion result in our entrance into the Space Age. It has been the duty and obligation of your school to present knowl- edge which will enable you to live in such a world. It has been your responsibility to take this knowledge and use it in your own particular way to prepare yourself for your future. We hope that many of you will continue your education by enrolling in some field of further study. our future is yours to do as you will. This is an opportunity many of the students of the world do not have. We offer our congratulations and wish you success and happiness upon leaving Civic Memorial High School. Kermit L. Harden, Superintendent 6
