A design, some paint and plenty of boys and girls and we have a mural. The boys paint the high spots. The Art Department has shown much prog- ress under the direction of their new instructor, Mr. William Hodge. They have tried their hand at sculpture, murals, all types of drawing and painting. Their latest creation is the making of their drapes, which turns the Art Room into a regular studio.

English Drama helps us portray the thoughts and ideas of famous writers. No matter what occupation you may follow, you will need to be able to read, write, spell, follow directions given orally, and express your ideas clearly and effectively. These skills are, in short, the goals of the English department for its students. In addition, every individual should be able to fill his leisure hours con- structively as well as enjoyably, and to continue to grow mentally. An introduction to good reading in the high school years is also an important part of the English program. English I, II, and III are required of every student. In addition, every student should take either English IV (literature and writing), or English V (speech) in his senior year. Learning the tenses of verbs and using them correctly in sentences is a basic part of our English training.
