The Spectator Staff spends the year busily collecting and com piling a history of the happenings; in sports, social activities and class functions. The Staff is composed of Senior students elected by their class, a Junior editor, business manager, and snapshot editor, who work together through- out the year to make each succeeding yearbook bigger and better than the preceeding one. Upon the arrival of the new Spectator in the spring, the staff holds an Autograph Party, an evening of fun - - collecting autographs from stu- dents and faculty. The Spectator is one of the biggest undertak- ings of the students and takes the co-operation of everyone to keep up the standard of the book. All Seniors have the opportunity to work on the book. WONDERFUL WORLD. FEBRUARY 24. 1956 Chorus - Glee Club - Sextette The Senior High Chorus classes are composed of students from the freshman and senior high academic classes. These classes are scheduled on Monday. Wed- nesday and Friday during the seventh and eighth hours. These classes are designed to teach the rudiments of singing to those students who are interested. The Glee Club is composed of sixty-five girls selected through try-outs from the seventh and eighth hour chorus classes. This group meets on Monday evening at 7 p.m. to perfect the music that has been learned in chorus classes. This is primarily the basic performing choral group at C. M. The year’s program will include, a Thanksgiving assembly, a Christmas Sing, a Winter Concert, the Contest, the Spring Concert, Graduation appearances and other performances that are required for public relations. The sextette is composed of six girls selected from the Glee Club on the basis of musical excellence and voice blend and also based upon known dependability. This group is tailored to furnish music on a moment s notice to any civic organization or school organization that may request it. Band The blare of trumpet and drum announces the ap- proach of the C. M. Marching Band, which appears at all home games and parades during the school year. The concert band devotes its time to musical perfection for concert purposes, which are many and varied dur- ing the school and community year. The High School Band of today must be versatile enough to entertain at the half of a football game, blend to the voices of vocalists for stage presentations, add to the color of a basketball game, lead a community parade and furnish music for a school dance. This we possess at C. M. in the Marching. Concert, and Combo Bands. This page is sponsored by Drennan’s Shell Service, Cottage Hills Thirty-One GLEE CLUB First Row: S. Baker. P. Gehrke, S. Jones, B. Homecoming - Coronation As we look back, one of our fondest memories of this year was our Homecoming Day. October 8. It was a perfect fall day and it seemed as if even nature was on our side. The Homecoming Parade was the biggest ever, and the floats showed ingenious ideas executed ably by the classes and clubs. That afternoon, our rampaging Eagles tromped Highland in one of the best games of the season. The air was filled with excitement and gay tension, which could be broken only by the Coronation Ceremonies that evening. The gym was decorated in a sports theme centering around the football game. A large crowd attended the dance and saw the crowning of our 1955-56 Homecoming Queen. Many Hands Fashion the Floats Brawny Hands Carry Another victory for the Eagles!
