According to the physical laws of our uni- verse, it is impossible to place two objects in a space designed for one. When someone suc- ceeds in placing three objocts in a space do- signed for one, that is better news than the proverbial man bites dog. Such, however, has been going on under our very eyes, and achiev- ing very little notice, as the hard-working ad- ministrative staff of the College has been handling the problem of educating 30.000 stu- dents in a school designed for one-third that number. Heading the staff is Dr. Harry N. Wright, a former mathematics professor at the College, who has been President since 1942. Dr. Wright's chief aide is Dr. John J. Theobald, Dean of Administration since 1946. Ranking directly below the President in the Administrative hierarchy are the four academic deans, the Dean of Students, the Registrar, the Librarian, the Directors of Summer and Evening Sessions and the Business Manager. Each of these men heads a unit with a complicated in- ternal structure. For instance, Mr. Robert L. Taylor is officially the College Registrar, but actually, he is only concerned with registration in the Main Center, day session. The Department of Student Life, which serves the vital function of advising undergraduates and assisting alumni, was organized under the leadership of Dean of Students Daniol F. Brophy in the Fall of 1946. The department is divided into five subdivisions; Testing and Guidance. Doan Egbert M. Turner Dean William Allan Robert L. Taylor, Registrar
