All of these new facilities have added to the enjoyment of classwork and have eased the overcrowded sub-standard quarters that have been used in the past. Citrus parents and adults in the communities have always provided outstanding educational facilities for their children. As a result we enioy today outstanding instruction and some of the best facilities to be found anywhere. Graduating seniors will long remember their graduation as being the first to be held in the new gymnasium. Because you have had such fine opportunities at Citrus, the staff and the community are expecting each of you to be a better citizen, an intelligent and productive worker and a real person. We know that you will always have a warm place in your heart for Citrus High. Best wishes, seniors, for all your future years. GLENN G. Members of the 1954 La Palma staff met early in the school to schedule pictures plan pages and sections gather information and organize staff and individual work. As deadlines neared the staff hurried frantically to fill the stipulated quotas with enough copy and pictures. Long hours after school laying out pages writing copy typing copysheets interviewing people checking names selling annual subscriptions and advertising plus endless proofreading were normal staff duties. However members of the La Palma staff agree that a wonderful experience has been theirs and they feel the memory of this year will last as being one of the most fun and learning. smgggmae '1 First row W Cook R Toledo R Zamora M Brouse S Cruuckshank P Maloney P Wermes E Short N White Se ond w T Gilbert M Heiney A Lee B C ft S I0 Black H Carmona Third ow J Chapman R Cole J DF est M Smith B Fke J DeForest MRS GRIGGS Members of the Cougar Growls staff included Sallee Cruickshank Pat Maloney Jim Stubblefleld Peggy Wermes Marilyn Smith Barbara Croft Marilyn Brouse Billie Bess Fike Jackie Chapman Jackie DeForest Joycle DeForest Stella Short Henrietta Carmona Ruth Cole Wanda Cook Marlene Heiney Anita Lee Rachel cKeIvey Bob Highley Bill Hilton Colby Marilyn Henderson Sylvia Black and Carene Griesel Toledo Nancy White Rose Marie Zamora Pat M Judy addition to studying lournalism and publishing the school paper a Mardi Dance was sponsored by the Cougar Growls staff on January l6 in the The parade and flower show at intermission was the highlight of the affair featured faculty can-can dancers and student talent. This year's instrumental section has been one of the best at Citrus because of the excellent enthusiasm and talent displayed. The Orchestra played at both the Spring Concert and the Tri-County League Concert. The Advanced Band played inspiring songs at football and basketball games. New smart looking, Citrus-colored uniforms were worn proudly this year. Under the direction of Mr. Peters, the band presented a top assembly program. The Beginning Band kept pace by marching and playing at Citrus games and also marched in the Azusa Golden Days Parade.
