Mr. Sturges and Mrs. Sheldon, the vice-principals, when not meeting' classes, were in the general office helping' Mr. Hayden, tirace, and Ruth as trouble-shooters. 'l'he freshmen had so many new things to see, to do, and to learn that they were probably dizzy by the time the day was over--in fact, so dizzy that doubtless several of them took the wrong' bus home and had to return to school with Sandy or Bloc and start all over again. Probably every student had the problem of adjusting' himself to at least one teacher he had never had before. At the beginning' of each period one found his classroom, g'rabbed a seat, and, if the teacher was new to him, looked him or her over to try to decide if re- ports about him or her could really be true. Then one knew that vacation was really over and school had begun.
