The Y. M. C. A. The Fort Leavenworth Y opened its doors to C. M. TrC. students daily from 9 a. rm. to I0 p. m. The swimming pool, newly built, proved the most popular spot in the building which also offered reading, writing and billiard rooms as Well as radio concerts. A branch in charge of R. B. Bassler and A. C. Crouse was conducted at the camp in a section of the chaplain's tent. The Y staff at the fort consisted of Herbert K. Knox, executive: H. L. Richards, athletic directory Fred R. Earle, social secretaryg Clarence E. Long, swimming instructor. The daily movies were provided by the HY . The Hostess House. Brigadier General Harry A. Smith, commanding Fort Leavenworth, set aside the OH:icers' Golf club-house as a Hostess House where Mrs. John M. Topper, Leavenworth, was in charge assisting students in meeting relatives and friends. The Knights of Columbus. The Leavenworth Council of the Knights of Columbus offered the use of its fine building in the city of Leavenworth to all C. M. T. C. students. Reading, writing and game rooms were available to students at all hours. The Woman's Auxiliary of the Coun- cil operated a branch in one of the chaplain's tents at camp. . Taking the Oath. ' Dances and Entertainments. Dances were held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Service Club. Girls from Fort Leavenworth and the city of Leavenworth, accompanied by chaperons, assisted in makin these dances the most popular social functions of the camp. Band concerts were played every Monday, Wednesday ana Friday evening at 7 o'clock and were followed by movies in the OPCU air- . Baseball games were played daily at 2 o'clock for the silver championship cup. Tennis courts on the post were available to students at all hours. V' 't to the United States Disciplinary Barracks, fo the Soldiers' Home and the Federalslfenitentiary were made afternoons, motor transportation being provided. Basebal , vo edy ball Speed ball football, soccer, pushball, track, boxing and Wrestling were enjoye . Mass games were held each afternoon.

Home made cookies contributed by women from Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri were dispensed by her at the chaplain's tent to all students who visited it. . h Distinguished Visitors.. General John Pershing, General of the Armies, Visited the camp during the last days of the month. Major George B. Duncan, commanding general of the Seventh Corps Area, was another visitor. . Under the auspices of the Leavenworth chapters, the Lions, Rotarians and Kiwanians of Kansas City, Atchison, Lawrence, Topeka and St. Joseph visited the camp and messe-d with the students. Several hundred visitors Weretin these groups. A The'President's Round Table of Kansas City, Mo., comprising the presidents and secretaries of every civic club in Kansas City, paid the camp a Visit on August l'8.
